Medium ruby in color; reductive when first opened, so I decided to let it breathe for about 30 minutes; chili peppers, black cherries, and plums on the nose; high acidity; medium tannins; tastes like pomegranates, red currants, and crushed gravel with a long finish. Nellie didn't like it. I think it's ok. — a year ago

Opened about an hour prior to service; enjoyed over the course of two days. Fairly consistent throughout but maybe even a touch better on Day 2? The 1976 “Unico” pours a garnet color with a slightly orange rim and a near opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears and some sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with intoxicating notes of cassis, black cherry, red plum, dried flowers, coffee (for dayz), tobacco, leather, sandalwood, some organic earth and a mix of cool and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long with gorgeous texture. This bottle came across remarkably young and supremely elegant. So much so, that I thought it was an inspired decision by one of our brothers-in-wine to include it in this particular lineup. We had a little leftover for the next day and it continued to show well. Brilliant stuff. Drink now through 2046+ — 3 days ago

Tasted blind. Ruby reddish color, young-looking compared to other reds so far. Opaque. Notes of black fruit, mocha, some earth and a little bit of wood. Rich in the mouth. Given our earlier Rioja bottle, we go back to Spain with guesses. I guessed 90 Unico. This is the Valbueno blend, with grapes from 85/91/96. 94+ — 4 years ago

I’d better hide the rest, or it won’t make it through the summer. — a month ago

@Delectable Wine. The 2024 Unico Zelo Pastafarian is actually a 100% Claire Valley Sangiovese. Bright garnet color. Aromas of sour red berries, dusty earth, leather, espresso and a bit of funk that blows off quickly. Flavors of cranberries, red plums, dark roasted coffee, anise and red licorice. Medium-plus length, bright acidity and fine grained tannins. There is a bit of a carbonic maceration vibe with this wine. Fresh tasting and lifted. Low 11% ABV. A unique expression of Sangiovese. Interesting. — 3 days ago
