Well these two did not disappoint! Both wines showed so well and true to what people love about these great producers and their wines.
• 2011 Domaine Fourrier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Les Gruenchers VV
• 1999 Guigal Ampuis Cote-Rotie
The Guigal I guessed blind as a 2000/2001, slightly torn between calling it a La Mouiline or Chateau Ampuis I ultimately went Ampuis. Guigal is pretty distinct in its character and the Ampuis is a beautiful introduction to the great Cote-Rotie wines from these hillside vineyards around the village of Ampuis, the namesake of this wine and the place it is made. This bottling was 🔥🔥🔥in this moment!
Fourrier is quickly becoming a favorite Burgundy producer of mine. This Chambolle was like terroir milled into silk. Texturally fine and plush, it was light as a feather with incredible density from the nose to the long, persistently elegant finish. This wine encapsulated what I feel are all of the great attributes that I love in a great red Burgundy. Purity abounds in this gorgeous Pinot Noir, textbook! — 6 years ago
Was torn on this...was weirdly sweet and oxidized ... couldn’t make up my mind if I liked that or not — 7 years ago
First indulgence of this £59 bubbly white crunchy fancy fizz bucket and it’s rather delish with a bit of white fish we nommed with it 😁 here fishy fishy 🐟 Perfect in a #zalto universal @zaltify your bubbles 😍

Blind. I was torn between Tempranillo and Malbec at first. Foolishly boarded the Malbec train which took me down the Bdx path. I don't drink enough wine from outside of NZ anymore.
Really good example of the variety. Not a game changer, but nothing to fault. Very enjoyable, and I was told it was very cheap. If so, amazing qpr. — 10 years ago
Pear & quince paste aromatics and through the palate. This was made on the lees, so it shows an almost creamy texture. Great acidity and shows a balance of fresh finesse along with powerful fruit. Lots of Chenin has been torn out of the ground in Washington, but the grape is making a comeback. Old vine bottlings like this one keep that story alive. — 6 years ago

Began as black olives for miles but betrayed its fruit roots quickly enough, with baked black cherry, and a black plum mash; black currant and gingerbread-mocha notes sparkling on its grainy veneer. Torn violet petals. Lots of sediment, or pigmented tartaric crystals. Super elegant and fleshy mouthfeel is perhaps its most compelling nuance. Black currant, soft leather, smoke, a scribble of pencil, snuffed wick, teak, and black tea. Bittersweet chocolate remains like a cloud, suspended while most aspects fade. Leather friction.

Torn. Needed to pick up some wine from east bank but didn’t get it done this week. Do I not have wine with prime ribeye, or do I crack one of my favorites that I had hoped to keep for a bit longer... and, now I have one fewer. :) — 8 years ago
A fuller bodied heavier NZSB @ £19-25 that's definitely better with food 😎
🐥 Paired w/ torn hot roast chicken, cold basil pesto pasta, moroccan fruity cous-cous, potato croquettes & beetroot salad 👍
🍷 Light golden yellow
👃 Delicate muted soft honey, citrus, peach, pineapple, white flowers & fuel smoke
👄 Med+ creamy smooth body of citrus & tropical fruits baked in honey & honeydew melon
🎯 Long honey caramel citrus & tropic soft creamy melon linger w/ grapefruit hint — 9 years ago
Very pretty, almost dainty. Felt torn. Love the elegance but wanted a little more power and flesh. — 9 years ago
My first try of this wine was the 2015 vintage & I loved it but I’ve not found many 2014 from Italy that I’ve liked as many are weak, so @ £127 I was torn on hold or try & yes I’m so weak to 🤣 I prefer this to the Sassicaia 14 but still I’d pay for the 2015 at this price as it feels expensive for what it is or could be 😉 But hey I love their labels 😍
📍 Montevertine Le Pergole Torte 2014
🏵 93 points w/ maybe a little improvement but not as complex as the 2015 which I gave 97-98 points @ £135 - I know which I’d buy as a long term treat 😉
🍇 100% Sangiovese
🍷 Clear rich ruby
👃 Soft oak & minty fresh cedar tones through dark cherry & sweet plum w/ blackberry, earth, rock minerals, red potpourri & spiced herby hints
👄 Med body of smooth red cherry, soft dark plum & light blackberry tones in dry minerals w/ raspberry, pomegranate & red berry oozing through
🎯 Med dry mineral infused red fruit wallop w/ a cherry, raspberry & pomegranate linger
— 6 years ago
Juice bomb! Low tannins for a Cabernet, but such a lovely bouquet of fruit. Ripe notes of plum, pomegranate, raspberry, red currant, red cherry, & subtle strawberry. Nice mix of juicy fruit & stewed fruit. Subtle tar & dry tobacco. Lightly dry finish. Medium-plus acidity. I’m torn between wanting more oak and loving that the lack of oak allows the fruit to really shine. — 7 years ago
First course, Cauliflower Puree, Torn Bread, Olive Oil Perfect! @PlateandBottle This is such a Burgundian steal. Thick & creamy to match the soup. Lots of time on lees. Lemon, honeysuckle, green apple, lime, grapefruit pith, butterscotch, butter but not buttery and smooth as velvety silk. This is their best since their 2010. I can’t say enough good things about what this producer achieves from this terroir. — 8 years ago
I'm a bit torn on this one - the first sip was excellent, but it got a bit cloying as the bottle went on. A truly interesting apple-based desert wine / cider - smells like ripe calvados, but tastes like a deep fruity apple based drink. — 9 years ago

1hr decant. Medium purple color. Nose contained graphite, pencil shavings, and dark cherries. Wine was deep and coated my teeth and mouth. That being said it seemed very young and tight. Definitely give this a lot of air and a few more years. Excellent QPR. Was torn between 94/95, so gave it the benefit of the doubt based on the excellent, silky texture. — 5 years ago
