Needs a bit more aging but a great drinker - more like patio wine — a month ago

Les Monts Damnés Chavignol Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc 2010

Slightly oxidized. Oily soft lemon. Nice but lacks some of the drive it has in youth — a month ago

Scherrer Vineyard Old and Mature Vines Zinfandel 2002

9.8

Last bottle — opened for an old friend and like the PN alongside, this was a stunner, nearly flawless. Intact cork, bunch of sediment, and after only half hour in the decanter it was game time. Had PN and this alongside gorgeous ribeye — 2 months ago

Spoken from first hand experience, Scherrer’s are one of the few good Zinfandel bets for extended aging into very special wine. Good young too.

Nervo Ranch Heritage Alexander Valley Red Blend 2024

This is the most forward and approachable of the new releases, a little tannic and structured, cellar 2-3 more years, drink now with aeration. — 10 days ago

Geyserville Alexander Valley Zinfandel Blend 2023

One of my favorite current releases from Ridge in 2025. Alexander Valley always produces grapes we like and this one doesn’t disappoint. — a day ago

Butteaux Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2014

Seems he nailed this vintage. Best bottle I can remember trying from this producer. All the oxidative notes are now fully integrated. — a month ago

Folie à Deux

Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Clear, deep ruby in color; on the nose, it's clean with pronounced primary and secondary aromas of cassis, cedar, and graphite on the nose; on the palate, it's dry with high acidity, high tannins, high alcohol, full body, and pronounced primary and secondary flavors of blackberries, black cherries, eucalyptus, and wet gravel with a medium finish. This wine is intense and complex, but a little too tannic and bitter for the amount of fruit (it probably needs more age, or more time in the decanter). After 30 minutes in a decanter, this wine is much more balanced and well integrated. Overall, I rate this wine as very good. — 2 months ago
