Dark tawny with some scarlet. Almost opaque. Fruit forward nose. Notes of ripe bing cherries, sandalwood, flowers and ripe rhubarb. Rich fruit in the mouth balanced against some big shoulder structure. This was flabby at first, fruity and hot (representative of the vintage)... but with air everything came together. A nice surprise. Still young but enjoyable if you give it a ton of air. — 6 years ago
Dark purple plum skin color from center to the rim’s edge where some scarlet also appears. Opaque. Great fruit forward nose that grabs your attention. Notes of blackberries, ripe plums, violets, tobacco, forest floor and some crushed walnuts. Rich and silky in the mouth. Great balance and texture. Tannins perfectly integrated. Long finish. If a Cal Cab can be seductive, this is it. Still youthful but in a great zone tonight. — 7 years ago
Fantastic. Smooth even after just poured — 4 years ago
Bright scarlet tawny. Mostly opaque. Candied fruit nose. Notes of strawberry, cherry kirsch, sandalwood and some. A bit masculine in its impact, which is different than not so long ago. Still has a silky texture in the mouth and all the pleasure zones. Seems young but is rather luscious right now. — 5 years ago
Still a baby, but already solid, huge, grippy, powerful and assertive Priorat.
Garnacha/Syrah, fermented in cement tanks with wild yeasts with daily oxygenation. Macerated 10-15 days. Aged in 4000 L wooden vats, 300 L barrels, clay jars & demijohns for 18 months.
Dark inky garnet, scarlet rim.
Intense, invigorating & refined nose of black earth, tar, smoke, pome jam, raspberry pie, charred pine cone, crushed pepper, peppermint, cherry seed, bone fire, caramel, mulberry jam, tobacco, box of matches, mushrooms, pu er tea, licorice, ink, rosemary, volcanic minerals.
Impressive and massive palate. Very full body (14.5%), vivid acidity, grained tannins. Chokeberry, hibiscus, red currant skins, basil, lilac broth, black gooseberry, unripe saskatoon, earth, cigar, roasted cacao beans, lavender, savory, espresso flavors.
Saturated lasting finish of cedar, saskatoon, chokeberry, coffee and licorice.
Paired rib-eye steak finely.

Scarlet tawny, similar in color and depth with the 99 Delas Hermitage sitting next to it. With enough air this shows as rich and flamboyant in the nose. Notes of ripe black cherries, rose petals, spice and moist earth. Powerful yet graceful on the mouth. Has great impact. It’s in what is likely a long and rewarding drinking window. — 6 years ago
As of now my favorite! — 6 years ago
First taste...was very smooth. — 7 years ago
Dark scarlet color, almost opaque. Meaty, hearty nose. Notes of black cherry, pepper and spice, smoked meats, slate stone and a little kirsch. Great balance in the mouth. Lasting finish. Good showing. — 4 years ago
Deep, brilliant scarlet. A complex, expressively perfumed bouquet evokes spice-tinged red and blue fruits, exotic spices and potpourri, along with a deeper cola nuance and a hint of smoky minerality. Energetic and seamless on the palate, offering finely etched raspberry, boysenberry, lavender pastille and spicecake flavors underscored by a vein of juicy acidity. Finishes extremely long and spicy, with polished tannins and resonating floral and berry notes. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, October 2020) — 5 years ago
Tasted blind. Dark scarlet. Not showing much age. Great fruit forward nose. Cherries, warm berry pie, herbs and a hint of menthol. A lot of power in the mouth. Maybe a bit overripe? Medium finish. Thought Zinfandel, then Cab. Guessed mid 90s Cal Pinot. I liked this a lot more at the end of the night vs the first tastes. — 5 years ago
Deep scarlet in color because of the extra amount of Pinot Noir with plenty of tiny bubbles. A wild nose of black and red berries mixed with blood orange, cinnamon, and herbs de Provence. This is an intense champagne and it doesn’t skimp on complexity either. Drinking more like a red wine at times, there’s an almost rusticity at first but soon evolves into a more structured and elegant pour. The brioche and roasted nuts are still here on the mid palate, along with warm Eastern spices. Creamy on the palate with blackberries, strawberries, and herbs. This was such a fun unconventional sparkler. — 5 years ago
Dark scarlet with some amber in the rims. Almost opaque. Huge nose right out of the gate. Notes of plum, mocha, leather, cranberries, hickory, some brown sugar and a little mint. Big and bold in the mouth. Amazing perfume late into the evening. Boyz guessed 82 Bordeaux. The other WOTN for some. (Bday dinner 10/13) — 6 years ago
Bright tawny, opaque center with clear scarlet rims. Nose of ripe cherries, wood, moist soil and a little candied fruit. Huge mouth feel. Powerful wine. Fruit and structure match each other, both intense. This needs time and could be special in the future. — 6 years ago

Tasted blind. Bright dark scarlet tawny color. Notes of tart cherry, earth, spice and some wood. Has a bit of a green streak in it, but it doesn’t take away from the quality of the wine. Having had 97 Dujacs many times before, I guess 97 Dujac Clos St. Denis. Someone else nails the CdlR vineyard. Good for the vintage but not at the level of the great old Dujac wines. — 4 years ago
