Complex, dramatic nose with lots going on…anise, licorice, cola, deep dark fruits. Wow! — 9 years ago
Had this with lamb and baa baa black sheep, it was just delectable. Classic pinot flavor all-around, like a chick-a-cherry cola. Should be even better in a few years. — 9 years ago
Whole cluster fruit. Dried herbs, cranberries, and a tinge of cherry cola. Great mouthfeel, and the flavors roll from fruit to blossoming undergrowth. Wonderful — 9 years ago
Enjoyed it. Smooth dark fruit. I guess cola is a good description. My husband was drinking beer then asked for a glass. One less for me sadly. Nice treat. — 10 years ago
Great cola flavor. Taking age very well — 10 years ago
Light body
Cola, black cherry, grenadine aromas
Bing cherry, raspberry unripened plum flavors
High acidity
Low tannin — 11 years ago
Gorgeous bouquet of candied cherries, fresh carnations, cherry cola, and wet, Jory soil so unique to Dundee Hills wines. Bright and fresh with red cherries, blackberries, developing into more blood orange and braised meat, finishing with field mushrooms, spice, and bitter cocoa. Lengthy finish and very rich. Beautiful wine! — 11 years ago
In every difficult vintage, anywhere, you will find producers that make exceptional wines. This 91 Palmer is such a wine. I have to thank Clyde Beffa owner of K&L Wine Merchants who has been traveling to Bordeaux for 35+ years for highly recommending two 91 Bordeaux's to me. The 91 Pichon Lalande; which he described as "heavenly." It's just the word I would have used to described it 5 or 6 years ago. Also, this 91 Palmer. He described as, "I love it-soft and silky." I would strongly agree. You see, critics gave the 91 vintage a horrific review as a whole. Bordeaux had two frosts in April and a cold growing season. These elements didn't prevent either of these producers from making beautifully elegant 1991 wines. I have said it many times and will say it again, taste wines even in difficult vintages. You'll find value and some excellent wines. As for this 91, it's in perfect form. Excellent on it's own and even better with the ribeye. It's so elegant, smooth, beautiful, ripe and well balanced with earth & fruit. The fruits are slightly stewed & baked. Blackberries, dark cherries, black plum, black raspberries, touch of rhubarb, cherries, strawberries. Dried florals, used leather, tobacco with ash, slight vegetal quality, anise, not too sweet black cherry licorice/cola, figs, dark earth with crushed rocks, dry stones, underbrush, understated spice and perfect acidity that drips over the palate. The length, structure, balance and finish are in perfect harmony & the finish goes on and on and on. As many times as we've been to Bordeaux, we never get tired of the drive on the D-2 through Margaux and Pauillac. Chateau Margaux & Palmer stand side by side in beautiful prodigious history to say nothing of Baron Pichon & Pichon Lalande. Every year, for my B-day, I have a great steak and an old Bordeaux. It just doesn't get any better than that. And as many of those nights I've had, B-day or not, this might have been the best. Perhaps topping or equaling the Ribcap at Bourbon Steak and the 91 Pichon Lalande. To quote Gary Westby, "it steak and claret night." 12% alcohol is so much more enjoyable than 15% plus. ❤🍷🎉🎂 — 9 years ago

Could be mistaken for Burgundy if it didn't have the hallmark CA cola in the palate. Very good, soft tannins, well balanced with plenty of life and development ahead — 10 years ago

Viril and enchanting; a wine that conjures all sorts of stereotypes of Spain, the jamon, the flamenco, catholic processions, Hemingway, wineskins, and bull fights. While the Ardanza possesses more focus and freshness, this Alberdi is more evolved and flamboyant. Incense, cigar box, cola, hung game and blood, black cherry, and salubrious acidity and tannins. — 10 years ago
Citrusy. Tasty. Nice summer wine. — 11 years ago
Incredible Pinot Noir. Thick and luscious with a long velvety finish. Rich cherry cola with hints of vanilla. — 12 years ago
From either the 3rd largest co-op in the world or in Europe. I think it's in Europe. Produttori is located in the heart of the tiny town of Barbaresco just to the right of the tower shown in the photo and up the street from Gaja. Also, one of the best Michelin stared restaurants for lunch we've ever had. As well, the best restaurant service we have experienced and it wasn't that pricey. For such large a co-op, they produce some outstanding value wines and some straight up excellent wines. This 09 is quite nice and one of their entry level value wines. A nice pair with my skillet lasagna. The wine shows more sour than sweet dark cherries, black raspberries, dry dark plums, touch of pouched strawberries, black cherry cola, dry dark florals bouquet, a light delicate herbaceous quality, dark soils with dry powdery crushed rocks with nice acidity. The balance of fruit & earth is improving as is the finish. It still needs at least 3-5 more years in bottle. Very nice wine under $30. A 9.0 on it's own with the skillet lasagna, 9.1-9.2. — 9 years ago

Deep red with dark edges and aromas of red berry fruit and sweet spices. On the palate cherry and strawberry flavors with vanilla, cinnamon and pepper spices, with cola tones. Fine tannins with balanced acidity carry this rich wine to a lingering finish. Will age well for another decade. — 9 years ago
2013. Great cherry cola flavors. — 10 years ago
BEAUTIFUL color on this wine, just stunning.
The nose gives off delicate red and pink flower notes, along with cola, cedarwood and white chocolate.
This is one of the prettiest wines I've ever tasted. Pure velvet luxury on the palate with candied red cherry and balanced acidity.
Compared to the Belle Glos Dairyman pinot noir I had last month this was a good deal better. Now onto Las Alturas! — 11 years ago
Dark ruby color with dried herb, raspberry, cherry, and a bit of spice aromas. On the palate it approaches medium-bodied, with a harmonious, elegant character and silky texture with dark chocolate covered cherries, pomegranate, and a bit of cola flavors. Med long finish. — 11 years ago
