Youthful at 23 years with strawberry nose and lemony taste . Magic! — 9 months ago
We opened this beautiful Cava, the 2020 Ravantós i Blanc Conca del Riu Anoia Extra Brut Cava Rose. From Catalonia Sant Sadurni D'Anoia, Spain. A blend of 44% Xarel-lo, 39% Macabeo, 12% Parellada and 5% Monastrell.
On the nose is strawberry, lemon, white peach, lime peel, almond and a bit of minerality.
On the palate there is strawberry, citrus, lemon, lime peel, tarragon, hazelnut, yellow apple and minerality.
This wine is medium bodied with an onion skin color with a bone dry mouthfeel medium + to high acidity that leaves us with a long fresh citrus wet rock finish. At $23 you can't go wrong. This will hang with the best sparkling wines. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend please stay safe and healthy heading into this week ahead. Nostrovia! 🥂🥂🥂🥂 — 10 months ago
Deeper in color than a trendy Provence rosé this also celebrates grenache in all its glory - red cherry, strawberry, raspberry and white peach on the nose and palate. Good acidity and a lovely red fruit juiciness. Wonderful with food, but equally enjoyable on its own — 2 years ago
Excellent Rosé. Peach, melon, and a hint of strawberry on the nose. Some effervescence on the mouthfeel. Super clean and crisp. Springtime in a glass. — 5 years ago
I opened the 2021 Failla Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir.
On the nose there is cherry, strawberry, cranberry, truffles, violets and earth.
On the palate there is bing cherry, strawberry, cranberry, vanilla, cinnamon, spice and light earth.
This wine is medium bodied with a smooth velvety mouthfeel medium to medium + acidity and medium to medium + fine supple tannins that moves into a long red fruit spicy finish. Enjoy the weekend and stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 8 months ago
2019 | Pinot Noir
Enderle & Moll; Liaison
Rhine Valley; Baden, Germany
(92-93; drink 2024-29, 2H decant)
Paired to duck confit & green lentils, a favorite meal for cats and humans in our humble abode.
After a mere ~13 month wait after receiving into the cellar, we're finally pulling a cork today. This really wants another year to unfurl for my palate. All the hallmarks of this wine are here; ripe black cherry, tree moss, dehydrated strawberry, damp cedar, past season rose, orange zest, slight VA but unobtrusive, medium finish, dried cranberry.
A very special/unique vintage for Liaison based on this commentary from the winemakers:
"Unfortunately, we had quite heavy frost in some of our best red sandstone vineyards last year and additional problems with hail and high fungus pressure, which is the reason why we ultimately decided to only bottle our "Basis", the "Liaison" and our "Muschelkalk" (shell limestone) this year. The barrels from the other top vineyards ended up in our "Liaison", which is ultimately reflected in the quality of this years "Liaison"..."
With the best of luck, this situation will not be repeated; so 2019 drink happily knowing it's a blend of the best grapes. — a year ago
Cherry, strawberry, cream, raspberry, lemon and stone fruit. Great acidity and balance. — 3 years ago
This is very drinkable wine. Solid at room temperature or great slightly chilled. It almost smells like date or fig with a tough of earth and something tart. The pallet is thinner with good acidity and a touch of effervescent. Initially, upon opening, there was a bit of pomegranate, which still lingers a bit after a day. There’s also a dried strawberry and a bit of dry earth. Good with salmon or chicken. — 5 years ago
With a table full of giants , for many this was the WOTD. Text book Rayas on the nose; strawberry, cherry, spices and kirsch.
This is a wine that makes love to your palate. Teasing and caressing your mouth with harmonious waves of elegant and balanced fruit. A great Rayas in a poor vintage for CDP. However for me the partner in life is the 2005 , which has complexity and concentration that puts that one in the Hall of Fame along with ‘78, ‘90 & ‘95 — 8 months ago
Apple and grapefruit on the nose, juicy berries (strawberry, raspberry) on the plate, but the citrus/grapefruit wrestle it back from being too sweet. Lightly floral on the finish. Really nice rose! — 9 months ago
Very light pink-orange in color with a very light floral nose. Very smooth but also very light in body with a very slight small bubble fizz. Slightly sweet with flavor of primarily strawberry and maybe some peach and a slight edge of citrus too. Nice and very good for an aperitif drink. — 2 years ago
I tend to be rather picky about rosé, but I always love those from the Tavel area. This one is consistently satisfying. Glorious salmon-pink color and fresh, juicy flavors of strawberry and watermelon. Great with our Niçoise salad! 60% Grenache, 13% Clairette, 13% Syrah, 10% Cinsault, 3% Mourvèdre, 1% Bourboulenc. 5/15/22. — 2 years ago
If strawberry and peach had a little wine baby this would be it. Very nice to have a lower alcohol content. This is my new favorite rose! — 5 years ago
Sipping Fine Wine
With New Years around the corner, grab something nice. Made with 100% Pinot Noir from 10 different "crus " (or villages), from the North & South areas of the Montagne de Reims, as well as the famous Cote de Bouzy. Deep salmon pink with full aromas of berry fruit and citrus mineral notes wrapped in a delicate fine mousse. On the palate flavors of raspberry and strawberry, bright acidity with spicy notes and orange zest. Long silky finish, ending with earthy yeasty mineral character. — 7 months ago
