My wife & I were shopping at Central Market last night and couldn’t help but notice they were serving Caymus BTG at the bar. Needless to say, this got me in the mood for some good ol’ Wagner family juice. I figured I would open a ‘12 up since I have a half-case stashed away, just to see what we’re looking at. Rating will no doubt improve with decanting but as a P&P we have the usual sweet Fig, molasses, baking spice, Rutherford dust/dirt, blackberry cobbler, and rich plums. EDIT: Bumped the rating up from 9.2 to 9.3. After 2 hours in the decanter it’s much more integrated and pleasing to the palate. — 8 years ago

Wow... very yummy and a surprising texture. Much more smooth and full bodied than I've experienced with a rose. I'm a fan! Yum! — 9 years ago
With thanks to @Ron R and @Paul T for their recommendations here!
Decanted 2 hours. Wonderful dark fruits on the nose that carry through to the palate. Certainly there is some Rutherford dust but there remains some tannin that remains less than well integrated. This is exceptional value. — 10 years ago

Poppin bottles for Christmas. Good Cava, great taste and easy to drink. Floated a couple raspberries in top for the holidays. — 11 years ago
Caucus is already releasing their 2013. Got to hold them for 5 years to start to see the improvement. This 2009 was a great ending to the evening. The velvety Rutherford dust went with the dark chocolate. — 11 years ago
Solid Rutherford Cab. Has the dust you expect but the palate is a little too subtle for my tastes. — 11 years ago
This wine made it! So amazing. Cigar box and iron on the nose. Beautiful gooseberry with a hint of ash and dust. Just great. 93 points because it held so well. — 12 years ago
Very tasty. Nice tapering down brew. — 8 years ago
Rutherford. Dust. — 8 years ago
For reasons my wife can’t quite specify she has had her eye on this selection for many months. What better occasion to finally try it than on her birthday? Very delicious wine with a lovely nose of dark fruits, baking spice, dust, and vanilla. On the palate an elegant expression of Cabernet Sauvignon with a bounty of blackberries, plums, dark chocolate, espresso, and mild notes of vanilla. — 9 years ago

I love anything Nick Goldschmidt does!!!! this Merlot is grippy yet full of great fruit. — 9 years ago
This is NOT my mother's Inglenook! Great Rutherford dust from Rubicon. The 09 is approachable, the tannin is are integrating , & my lamb has arrived!!! — 11 years ago
'Les Picasses' lies along a riverbank on a fairly steep slope that is primarily alluvial clay overlaying chalk and limestone. The vines are over 50 years old and the site is known to produce wines with fabulous purity and minerality. As such the Olga Raffault 'Les Picasses' Chinon 1989 has had time to mellow, the aromas are quite lovely—lavender, game, worn leather, a touch of barnyard, and cellar dust. There is a throaty, sensual wildness to this wine, punctuated by a vein of bright acidity and minerals. Everything I love in Loire Valley Cab Franc. — 11 years ago
1992. Would have been better 5 yrs ago but still very nice with dried more than fresh fruit (prune/raisin more than plum/ grape) but still a touch of tannin on first opening. Definite cedary Napa dust gives a bit of structure. — 12 years ago
Tasted like the stars with Paige and Leslie! — 12 years ago
On tap. One of the original greats. Dank, juicy, crunk. #threefloyds #paleale — 8 years ago
I feel like this Wine is in its prime drinking window now. Cola, red fruit, and some Rutherford dust make for smooth drinking Cab. — 8 years ago
Beautiful bright nose of dust, dry cherry, and leather. The wine showed its age with light browning on the edge but at first taste tannins, dry fruit, and bright sour cherry notes competed. After a few minutes, waves of sweet cherry fruit soared and the tannins dropped off. Brilliant match to Tuscan T-bone and oso bucco on a warm night in Florence, Italy. — 9 years ago
Delicious full bodied Chardonnay! Just melts in your mouth and invites you to play! Can't wait to have more! Would 100% recommend and drink again. — 10 years ago
Big fruit and dense. I enjoyed with short ribs and my husband liked it with a Bolognese. — 11 years ago
Dust. Dark fruit. Rich and jammy. High acidity. High alcohol. — 12 years ago

Probably a 97 a maturity. Solid 94 today. WOW this wine is young. Nose is reminiscent of a young Malbec. Of course, the Rutherford red blend is always heavy on the Malbec (historically 10 to 15 %) , although the percentage breakdown is not listed on this vintage. Has almost a meaty sort of a nose. Entry is youthful fruit that seems to have ripened just yesterday. Still very astringent black cherry and a little bit of baking spice to the middle. Finishes with a softer texture than expected, but also with some pretty stiff Young Oak tannin. This one definitely did better with dinner to cut through the tannin which made the finish a little more present and that hint of Rutherford dust stick out! But, with this one needs more than anything is about 5 years in the bottle to figure itself out. Looking forward to big things! — 7 years ago
