Bénedicte & Stéphane Tissot En Spois Vin Jaune Arbois Savagnin 2016

The lightest and most accessible of Tissot’s single-vineyard Vin Jaune bottlings. Savagnin from young vines rooted in Trias soils. Delicate nose reminiscent of a Fino. Mineral, saline — 5 months ago

Pur Blanc Saint-Peray White Rhone Blend 2020

Marshmallow, lemon peel and lemon blossom, orange sorbet and dried mango on the slightly honeyed palate. Dry, a bit astringent. Rocks. Really leveling up on day 3. Textural and seductive. — a year ago

St. Péray Roussanne 2019

Lyle Fass
9.5

Great. More later.

On day 2 the nose is rich and full of gras, exotic fruits and intense minerality. Little bit of new wood peeking through as well. Palate is juicy, round and so clear. Brilliant clarity on this. Lovely finish and stunning purity here. 9.4 to 9.5.

Réserve Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2014

Whiff of new oak. Overall a subdued nose. Very young. On the palate Latent Dense and undeveloped of M+ intensity. Early Cote Roties I had from the mid 1980s always had a peppery side to them. David LeMire MW who hosted this Shiraz tasting said that these days the French think that pepper in a Syrah is more for drink now styles. 93 points now but time will take it to 96+. — 7 years ago

La Combe de Malleval Condrieu Viognier 2011

2011. This wine sits heavy and rich on the tongue. Stone fruit, floral, and a little oak. Paired great with sesame crusted tuna steak, 5-spice roasted sweet potatoes, and smashed cucumbers. — 8 months ago

Arbois Traminer 2016

100% Savagnin made in ouillé style (topped up, non oxidized). In fact, this is Tissot’s only Savagnin ouillé, as most of their Savagnin grapes go towards the production of Vin Jaune (aged under flor, without topping-up). Complex, mineral, very tasty. Long, saline finish — 2 years ago

La Mailloche Côtes du Jura Chardonnay 2014

Not as reductive as the '15's tried from barrel, not the worst for it though, showing a little oak shining through at the moment, well integrated though, this wine has huge intensity. — 7 years ago
