Dry, good acidity which is a little unusual for a Riesling. Good weight, bright color, this wine is delicious! — 5 years ago
I’m a believer in terroir, but this wine, which is an absolute ringer for Chablis, throws everything in question. If this were grown at Rorick with its limestone that would make sense, but semillon from the Napa valley floor? Out of the bottle it’s quite lithe, showing lemon and a bit of seashell minerality, but with an hour of air it begins to show some crisp apple and white stone fruit, and some white flower. Lovely, unusual wine. Enjoyed with grilled salmon and salad. — 6 years ago
Lime zest, slate, ripping acidity. All good. — 6 years ago
What a nose. It pops. Big peach and apricot and that purest citrusy syrup dash of honey thing. Really singing. Slate in the background but beautiful and clean fruit. Floral and almost a nougat element as well. Stunning. Palate is at once opulent and also bone dry with razor sharp 2008 acidity and cleansing minerality and citrus on the finish which really is long and delineated. This is outrageous now. — 7 years ago
Call me crazy...Faint petrol, wet slate with smooshed cherry/strawberry! Whaaa where is that note coming from...on Riesling, Rhine!!!???
Update Day No. 8: Red fruits note was still going strong, and confirmed by three others, so my sanity is intact.
'Try to catch snowflakes on your tongue. It's fun. Mm. Needs sugar. It's too early. I never eat December snowflakes. I always wait until January. They sure look ripe to me. You think you're so smart with that blanket. What are you gonna do with it when you grow up? Maybe I'll make it into a sport coat.' — 8 years ago
Great white, fruity — 10 months ago
Nose has slate/petrol notes, lime zest, lime slice, broken flint, orange blossom and very under-ripe green apple slice.
Palate has generous ripe apricot, lime peel, lime slice, petrol/plastic notes, dehydrated orange with a lush, mouth coating finish, long and beautiful.
Decanted 6H, then double decanted and slow oxidation overnight, this bottle has been open 23H at the time of notes.
This bottle is really starting to come together, but should have a long life ahead. Next check-in suggested 2026-2030+. — 5 years ago

Complex nose. Bread, nuts, lemon merengue, slate, and a reductive smokey note. On the palate, the wine is stuffed with substance but is yet to unfurl and bubbles are quite pronounced which distracts from the flavour profile. Slightly disappointing but full if potential. — 6 years ago
Jan 31, 2018. Top Ten, on the bar list. Easy drinking, Priorat. Would be great everyday wine. Dark fruit, rich earthy wine. Grenache blend. Yum — 8 years ago
As much as I try to pair reds w the Thanksgiving meal #Riesling always seems to work best…and helps w keeping the turkey moist and adding an extra element to the gravy base 😉
On its own appreciate it for its balance of sweetness w just enough acidity and salinity ~ minerality w a nod to slate and gunflint smoke ~ and an array of fruit ranging from quince and peach to lime and pineapple — 4 years ago
Tawny with reddish amber rims. Dark yet translucent. Great old Chave nose. Black cherry, wet forest floor, smoked meats, menthol, slate stone and rhubarb notes. Vibrant in the mouth right out of the gate. Lots of structure and pucker. Fruit present but starting to fade. This was at peak first two hours and then started slowing down, opposite of the Trimbach CSH next to it. Still this was really good ~37 yr old grape juice. — 6 years ago
The petite comes through, great wine! — 7 years ago
A vigorous zesty nose of lime, slate, flowers. Intense and racy, the palate has great acidity, packed with flavor and citrus. A real killer puligny — 7 years ago
