Château Lynch-Bages

Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 1989

Great vintage for LB that was singing, suave & polished with its red & black fruits, graphite, leather, licorice, sweet savory spice & cigar ash. Just entering its drinking window with many years ahead. From an owc purchased on futures — 7 months ago

Why drink water when you have this? Water doesn’t even taste good. I want to feel electric; this does it — 2 years ago

Ridge Vineyards

Monte Bello Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2001

Wow, what a stunner. Its explosive bouquet wafts from the glass showing layers of sweet ripe red fruit, crème de cassis, mocha and black truffles, with well judged oak staying in the background. It expands on the palate showing superb depth, vibrancy, ripe tannins and an amazing lush and luxurious texture with a finish that just goes on and on. Hedonistic and opulent, this 40th anniversary vintage is absolutely singing at age 20, and it hides its record high 14.2% alcohol with ease. First growth California? ;) — 2 years ago

Singing Grüner Veltliner 2020

Bright gold color. Lovely aromas of white flowers, green apple and orange zest. Flavors of unripe peach, lemon, apple, asparagus and a distinct note of white pepper on the long and lingering finish. Bone dry with mouth watering acidity. Just a bit of CO2 right out of the bottle. Clean and crisp. So refreshing. Aging nicely. A taste of Spring! Thanks for sharing, Kase! — 2 months ago

Château Pichon-Longueville Baron

Baron de Pichon-Longueville Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2000

2000 vintage. Decanted and tasted over the course of 1.5 hours. Expected amount of sed. Chunky, unresolved nose. Medium body. Still too youthful. Would try to give it another 7-10 years if possible. Initial tree branches/greenery dipping into morning fresh water morphed into classic graphite/lead pencil after 45 mins in the decanter. There was a slight metallic streak on the finish that appeared about 20 minutes in and still hadn't dissipated after 1.5 hours. More nimble than the og bad boys from this estate ('86, '88, '89, '90) and a bit less weighty. Mostly positives along with a few (mostly) minor quibblings. A ways to go, tho, before hitting the summit this estate established four decades ago. 9.24.23. — 7 months ago

Ardbeg

Uigeadail The Ultimate Islay Single Malt Scotch Whiskey 54.2% abv.

We love Islay malts in winter— Seattle reached 17° F today, so we reached for the Oog. Gorgeous bottling if a touch sweet for my palate. Threads the needle of smoky peat/malt styles very well. Best with a few drops of water to open up. — 2 years ago

Château de Beaucastel

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend

Drinking beautifully. Smooth and well rounded - some cigar box on the nose. Elegant dark fruit on the palate. It’s singing. — a year ago
