Les Saint-Jacques Rully Chardonnay 2018

2021/4. I feel like de Villaine’s Chardonnays have a bit more depth and savor than they did a decade ago - and they were certainly good then. This was lovely, with lots of fresh fruit and acidity but some sneaky stone, butter and hazelnut lurking. — 2 years ago

Fanucchi Wood Road Vineyard Trousseau Gris

Waited a few years to drink the 2017 and it’s even better than I remembered. In times like these it’s important to savor the floral bouquet and stone fruit deliciousness of this wine and essentials like Clorox bleach. — 3 years ago

Collective Consensus Red Bordeaux Blend 2013

Have held this for a couple of years and decided it was time to open this Similkameen blend. It has a beautiful velvety colour. Smells of fresh dark wild berries and plums. Taste here is a winner. Combination of dark and red fruits and berries, but dark plums, black currant, raspberries are the dominant notes. It’s very smooth, with a very a subtle but noticeable pepper acidity that is well integrated. Very small hints of leather and musk. Overall, it’s a velvety, deeply well integrated and smooth wine. — 4 years ago

Tried this at a Cordon tasting and this stood out as the best of their great lineup. Rich and complex with dark fruits, tobacco and oak. One to savor! — 3 years ago

Château Ducru-Beaucaillou

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2014

This ”left bank” Bordeaux eludes a sophisticated sexiness from start. In the glass, it’s inky, dense, purple intimidates you at first, but the silky, well balanced full bodied with soft tannins puts your mouth at ease. From the nose to finish, it is apparent that it had spent a substantial amount of time in French Oak. Notes of cassis, black cherry on the palate add a chocolate mole as it begins to breathe, with a finish reminiscent of those Welch’s Strawberry Fruit Snacks (in a great way) on a lengthy finish. Pairs great with a smoked Gouda, but almost equally as good alone. While the $150 price May scare you away, it is worth every penny. Savor every sip! — 4 years ago

Long Shadows Vintners

Feather Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Made by superstar winemaker, Randy Dunn, of Dunn Vineyards, the 2017 ‘Feather’ by Long Shadows is a masterful effort from this exciting warmer vintage in Washington. Once on the nose there is a lovely round core of toasty oak that wraps around the rich dark fruits, sagebrush and chocolate fudge aromatics that all meld in the glass. The palate is silky smooth, revealing a round and generous mouthfeel. The seamless effect created mid-palate is utterly fantastic. Black currants and blackberry cordial dance with shades of Black Forest Cake and espresso bean on this highly complex palate. This finishes long with dark fruits and a beam of minerality. While enticing to savor now, the 2017 ‘Feather’ will have a long life ahead of it. If enjoying in its youth, be sure to afford a two hour decant prior to enjoying. Drink 2021-2040- 95 — 3 years ago
