Horseshoe Vineyard Syrah 2009

Imagine a great Cote Rotie, Cornas, and a Cal Syrah step into a bar. The atmosphere is all French but the ‘Mercian makes it interesting and overblown with too much density. It was spectacular, but if it were a bit more reserved, and didn’t stain my Riedel, it would have been on another level. — 3 months ago

You must not be too attached to your Riedels if you gave it a 95! “Hurts so good”? 😸

Alpine Vineyard Chardonnay 2021

Young but the wine is so on point. By far the best American Chardonnay on the market. Crazy acidity, so much citrus, tropicals including passion fruit, just amazing 🤩 — 5 months ago

Estate Cuvée Schultze Family Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015

Light ruby hue. Aromas of cherry, cream, grass, minerals, and smoke. Medium-light body, soft tannins, and plus acidity. Bright and balanced with a lasting finish. A little tight at first, but softens after opening a while with hints of vanilla on the palate. — 2 years ago

Pre-baked Apple pie that you're just putting into the oven. Sour apple, pear, dough and cinnamon spice. Macadamia nut in the mouth. Holding true to my belief that 2013 is the best Chard vintage in the recent run — 7 years ago

Mount Eden Vineyards

Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir 2013

4th wine of BYOB blind. Very light with a slight effervescence, leading us to call this as a natty pinot. Was surprised it was such a classic. Have had Mt Eden Pinot before and this was not in the same neighborhood of depth/forest floor. Alas, not my favorite vintage — 3 months ago

Candied (but barely) lemon is a fair tasting note. It still has that puckering acidity that is so distinctive

Drank side by side w the Ceritas TG ‘14. Nose was quite similar on both but they diverge on the palate
