1996 vintage. Decanted and tasted over the course of two hours. Plenty of sediment. Chunky nose with translated into the early flavor profile but lessened with time. Decent focus and concentration. Some grip but enough dark fruit remaining to mitigate the tannins successfully. Not improving but can hold steady in this range for another 5 or so years. Not super complex yet solid enough for vintage BDX to seek out without compromising the 401k/Roth IRA. 11.9.23. — 3 years ago
Good Cab. Paired well with smoked chuck roast. Paired even better with dark chocolate — 4 years ago
Mr Roth always insists on the essential nature of Cab Franc, it’s place in the world being nearly perfect. Good extraction, complete fruit on palette. Actually had it with Jory’s version of razor clams on black rossetto.....cold fresh English pea soup infused with local lump crab. — 6 years ago
Whole Foods has this wine listed to go with a cheese pairing that worked really well. Roth Pavino cheese, Fig Spread and
Apricot, Fig and Lemon Lesley Stowe Raincoast Crisps.
Otherwise I’m not generally a huge Pinot Gris fan. — 7 years ago
Big bold Cabernet from Alexander Valley. Dark purple in color. Nice fingers. Earthy. Nice tannin structure. Black cherry and leather. Very nice. — a year ago
Deep ruby to purple in color; black cherries, graphite, and cassis on the nose; medium acidity; high tannins; tastes like blackberries, black plums, and baking spices with a long finish. Nellie likes it. Jason loves it. I love it too. It's very well balanced. A really good wine. — 3 years ago
Big fruit forward then a dusty dark fruit in the middle. Then a quick dusty finish. — 4 years ago
Liked Roth better. “Light,” but very enjoyable Cabernet Sauvignon from Phil. Christmas gift basket. — 5 years ago
