Another delicious Iberian White, this one from Spain and made by the highly reputable Telmo Rodriguez. Produced from 40 year old Verdejo vines. Aromatic with floral notes and pineapple juice. A truly amazing tasting hosted by non other than Rob Greer!!! We loved hearing the history of his vineyard and his transition from making what he called “Fun” wine to making “Fine Wine”. If he was shooting for simply fine he completely missed his Mark. This one was absolutely unequivocably Superb!!!!! Wow., his 14 was balanced., balanced, balanced. Seamless integration and a touch of oak which doesn’t over power the wine. This was Badass in a Glass for sure!!!!!!
I was lucky enough to have been introduced to Greer wines by Howard Greenfield a few years ago. I’ve never looked back and say YES SIR to my entire allocation on a yearly basis. If you haven’t had Greer YOU MUST contact Rob and pick up a 3 pack. Believe me.,you won’t regret it!!! Telmo Rodriguez, Spain’s pioneer winemaker, studied viticulture & oenology at the Univ of Bordeaux & winemaker at his family winery in Rioja. Had a chance to taste '14/'15 side by side. Made from 100% Godello grown in shallow, stony granite soils on terraces facing south, west & northwest. Straw yellow with green edges and fruity floral nose with forest aromas. The palate shows white flesh fruits, light body, generous acidity in a nice mouthfeel. The finish is medium in length and pleasant. — 7 years ago
