My first impressions of the 2020 Pégau “Cuvée Reservée”. I brought this bottle to Tasting Group and presented it double-blind to the crew, for science! The wine pours a deep ruby with a translucent core. Moderate staining of the tears; high viscosity. On the nose: the wine is moderate intensity; developing. Ripe cherry and bramble fruits with some strawberry, anise, exotic spices, garrigue, and lavender. On the palate, the wine is dry, medium+ tannin and medium+ acid and medium+ alcohol. The tannins are super grippy. The finish is long, herby and there is a streak of black pepper. Whoa…this is a gorgeously expressive wine! Some felt it was 1er cru Burg. Other thought something form Italy: Brunello or CCR. Only one, the only Advanced Somm in the group, called CdP, but he called 2016. Having had many 2016’s recently, I can see where he was coming from. But make no mistake, this will age well despite it’s current approachability. Drink now to enjoy its youth before it potentially (likely) shuts down. Otherwise, this will drink well for 10-15+ years. — 3 years ago

Awesome 👏 Got this last year and I did not like. Decided to open a second bottle and I am so glad I did. Fine , sinewy tannins, subtle oak smells, all around vibrant and delicious. I am getting the current vintage and putting it away

2019 vintage. Last tasted 3.8.25 (9.6) and 8.19.23 (9.5). Excellent fill and great cork. Decanted and tasted after 30 minutes. Small amount of chunky sed. Medium-heavy body but starting to slowly thin out. Excellent colo(u)r. Alongside the roasted nuts and smoked meats flavors, this drops a current cola-nut driven finish. Smooth and harmonious. Love this producer along with a nod to consumers/wine trade for keeping these ridiculous pricings down. 10.10.25. — 9 months ago
History of Chapoutier family dates back to the early 19th century when current owner Michel Chapoutier’s great-, great-, great-grandfather Marius purchased estate & famous l’Hermitage vineyards. Medium Ruby with aromas of rich red/black fruits and spice, 16 months in 25% new French oak. On the palate raspberry, cherry & black currant flavors with notes of oak. Soft dusty tannins, well balanced ending with fruit, spice and cedar. Very nice! I wouldn’t age long, great now! — 4 years ago
We had the 2014 Vintage on 10/6-7/21. A real good full bodied, New World wine. Tastes of black current, plum, leather and a savory spice. Bordeaux meets Napa. — 5 years ago
Floral aroma with hints of black cherry and current. Velvety on the pallet with hints of blackberry and tart raspberry. Slight hint of fall leaves. — 6 years ago
Arietta Wines lunch with owner Fritz. We were able to taste through some current releases as well as some reserve wines Fritz brought with him personally. A treat to enjoy these Andy Erickson wines!
This felt like it was just starting to hit its drinking window. Very pretty and aromatic. Potpourri, lavender, dusted dark cocoa bits, plum and savory smoke on the nose with underripe blackberries, baking spices and nutmeg. Lovely. — 7 years ago
Another visit to this lovely wine and another confirmation that 2008 was a great vintage and most probably one of the best value vintages in the last decade in Bordeaux. The wine is rich, round, elegant and smooth, already ready for drinking, with earthy notes, coffee, black current, wild berries, full round body, lovely tannins, elegant long finish. A pleasure. My score 91, drink to 2025 — 9 years ago
2000 vintage. Mid-shoulder fill with top-notch cork. Decanted and tasted after 3 hours. Medium/medium-heavy body. Jello chocolate pudding nose. Chunky mix of dark and milk chocolate flavors in the frontal palate that picked up a hitchhiking, dark plum passenger in the mid-palate and cruised to the finish without any speed bumps. Tannins almost completely integrated. Smooth, rich, weighty, crowd-pleasing finish. Wanted a small, dirty dissenting opinion to further confirm the current harmony/vibe but none was forthcoming. So much life ahead. Zero rush to crush. 08.01.25. — a year ago
This is a delicious Bordeaux blend from Columbia Valley in Washington State.
Very dark in color, and looks very young.
Full-bodied, smooth and bold, with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with nice complexity.
Showing blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, raisins, dried figs, vanilla, cedar, licorice, cola, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, spices, earth and coffee.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.
This 8 year old is peaking now, and will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 years.
Smooth and elegant. Rich and extracted, with a great mouth feel.
Good by itself or with food. A great wine to sip on and talk about.
Robert Parker 94 points.
Needs 3 hours to open up properly, but good right out of the bottle as well.
I paired it with a Charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.
A blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Petit Verdot, 17% Merlot, 7% Cab Franc and a splash of Malbec. Winemaker is Philippe Melka.
15.4% alcohol by volume.

Distinctive nose and taste; smoky, unique, and tastes older than the current vintage. — 7 years ago
So subtle - dried orange peel, potpourri and creamed corn - a delight, thank Hugh — 8 years ago
Current release and kicking butt. Awesome Rioja showing it all, decant and enjoy it with some meat!! — 8 years ago
Celebrating that we just got our power back on after Irma so had to open one of my favorite Bordeaux for current drinking. Stunning aromatics of black fruits & cassis with a perfume of tarry, camphor, licorice spice, soy, black olive & violet. On the palate you get this core of sweet black fruits that is rich & full bodied. I have consumed more than 6 cases of this wine in the last 5 years and most every btl has been an awesome experience. — 9 years ago
