2013 vintage. Decanted with a little sed. Great cork. Tremendous power and on the leaner side of the ledger...think bigg vintage Leoville Las Cases or 80's/early 90's Montelena or *gasp* La Jota before the Helen Turley fruit bomb intervention in the early 90’s. Drinking a little "hot" but only at 14.9% ABV. Definite palate-wrecker with tannins for daze. Will take this wine in their lineup nearly every time vs the pricier and smoother Pritchard Hill shizz. The off the charts QPR is easily tasted vs the rest of their Cab/Cab-based lineup. Awesome now but will consolidate even further into a wolverine wine. Be very afraid. If you're looking for a quiet, placid dinner for two, then a rom-com snugglefest, this is not your beautiful house. This is someone else's beautiful wife. 12.01.24. — 7 months ago
Leather plum cherry etc, body hung but not jarring and not hot but acids there, berries — 4 years ago
An amazing wine for the price which as I recall is $8 at Costco. Our current favorite — 4 years ago
A bit hot but still really good. Didn’t last to day 2. — 6 months ago
A bit hot with everything elevated. — 8 months ago
2003. Last bottle was 3 years ago, and this one I liked better. Starts out austere with evidence of a difficult hot year. But after hours in the decanter it cycled thru some almost port like caramelized tapenades and ended the evening with a somewhat strange but delicious red crème brûlée thing. So if you have one… I suggest patience thru the awkward opening hours to get to the awkward good part. Cheers. — 4 years ago
Nice Syrah, lots of depth and character, front and middle are lovely, back end resolution nice but not perfect balance for me. I don't know that a 100% syrah can ever resolve in perfect balance for me. That said, it is better than good. Hefty, dark ruby, swagger. Watch out.. she bang: 15.7%. Big enough that it doesn't taste hot though — 4 years ago
