Notes of rainier cherry, great balance with tartness that was not too much. Lighter bodied and mellow. Comparing with the Ripasso and Amarone from the same winery. — 5 years ago

Oestricher Lenchen Kabinett Riesling

2017 vintage. Pure honey and white flowers on the nose. Nectarine, honey, honeydew melon, honeysuckle, jasmine tea, poached pear, sweet apple, Rainier cherry, candied lemon. Lots of complexity and long finish. Weight and sweetness suggest more of a Spätlese profile. — 7 years ago

NV. Very clean and crisp. Strawberries and cream, crushed white rocks, white grapefruit, Rainier cherries, white raspberries. Very little yeastiness or autolytic notes, more fruit- and mineral-driven. Valentine's wine! — 7 years ago

Weingut Dreissigacker

Kirchspiel Riesling 2012

What a wine. Westhofen continuing to challenge my Mosel loyalty. Richly spiced nose - allspice inflected apricots and rocks, with some of that lanolin character, which I sometimes find in riper Riesling. Full and weight in the mouth, with apricot/rainier cherry fruit, broad but focused. The finish is all Riesling - full of zip and drive. Long. Jochen Dreissigacker clearly paid close attention during his time with Keller. — 8 years ago

Vincent

Ribbon Ridge Pinot Noir 2015

Tim
9.0

Vincent '15 Pinot Noir (Ribbon Ridge) - 13.1%

Appearance: Cloudy, magenta, medium light body

Nose: Spicy strawberry rhubarb

Taste: Soft initially with spicy jammy red fruits, rhubarb, strawberry, Rainier cherry, and some earthy loamy notes. Very mild tartness on the back end with good structure and mild tannins

Pop n' pour, drank over an hour or so and improved over time. First Vincent wine, and look forward to trying the Chardonnay, Blanc and Gamay - for the price this is a beauty that shows character of the Willamette finesse and soft, earthy subtlety. Pairing wasn't very well thought out, but we drank with a basil bechamel sauce over roasted cauliflower rice and ground veal and it worked surprisingly well.

Abbey Ridge Pinot Noir 2017

Decanted. Didn't touch until 3hrs open. A soft touch of reduction still, some very soft Cameron mushroom/funk, then loads of rainier cherry, wild strawberry, soft plum, baking spice, loads of complexity and nothing is overdone. On the palate, lovely acidity, black cherry, baking spice, soft white pepper, crystalline black raspberry, good salinity, very soft tannin on the dark finish. This is darker than the Clos Electrique, which makes me appreciate it slightly less, but this is a stunning btl of PN. — 5 years ago

Mary Elke Boonville Barter Pinot Noir 2014

Fern leaves, coffee grounds, touch of fruit skin on the nose. Surprisingly cloudy and hazy in the glass. Rustic flavors galore...sour and Rainier cherries, wet stone, and almost Napa-like dust in the finish. Tastes hotter than its 13.8% abv and absolutely comes alive with fat and salt. This is the frame-off restored '77 two-tone Silverado of your dreams, in a bottle. — 6 years ago

Domaine Tour Saint Michel

Cuvée du Lion Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2010

My notes on this from May of 2017 still apply. Popped and poured. Drank well over two days. Immediately this wine impresses visually. Sure, the color is an expected deep garnet but what's most striking is the fact that it's never completely opaque at the core. You can just barely get the faintest amount of light to see through it. It's quite beautiful, really. The nose is initially a bit reticent but a few minutes of air in the glass does the trick and then it really begins to show off the most lovely perfume of mixed red and dark fruit; so fresh and pure with just a flash of garrigue. No perceptible heat on the nose. On the palate it's a veritable wonder of berries, Rainier cherries, black berry liqueur, and just a touch of fine white pepper. The body is perfectly proportioned and the finish lasts for over 30 seconds. In summary, this is an incredibly balanced 2010 CdP that is already hitting its prime. Personally, I felt it was really at its very best about two hours in which leaves me to believe it should be a great pop and pour for the next couple of years and potentially has the balance to be great for longer. That being said, there is no need to decant, just pull the cork, pour and enjoy the evolution in the glass. The hard part is allowing it to last for two hours and longer. It should be noted that this is dangerously quaffable wine and it wouldn't be hard to take the whole thing to the head. Might as well drink these sooner than later as I'm always a bit wary of CdP much beyond the 10 year mark, where I tend so find many of them fall apart on the palate. Perhaps others with more experience in the long-term ageing of CdP can chime in though. Absurd value at $30.

As a side note, this paired very nicely with pan fried pork savory bacon wrapped filet mignon.

Was happy to get this in the glass again for it has been a long time. Simply juicy, well fruited with a supple creamy texture, inviting nose, clean and refreshing palate marked by bright acidity. Ultra-ripe bing and rainier cherry, clafouti, red currant, confections, leesy goodness and mineral notes. 12/2018 disgorgement — 5 years ago

Domaine Tempier

Bandol Rosé Blend 2014

Ok this is my experiment!! My first experience with Domaine Tempier was three years ago; this wine, this vintage. Presenting with an extremely plush salinity in the mouth the wine was lacking just a bit in smell and quite a bit more in pallet.
I did some research..discovering that Bandol Rosé has a pretty unique aging potential. It took a bit but I was able to acquire another 2014...and I waited...(suggested 5-6 yrs.) So I split the difference ...almost!
This wine is so much better on the nose and palate...Rainier Cherries..Watermelon..Kiwi fruit..Jolly Rancher strawberries..tangerine and wet gravel!
Every vintage is different....the 2015 was great from the start and remains my favorite!!

Arterberry Maresh

Dundee Hills Pinot Noir 2015

The nose is ripe cherry and decomposing dill. Dill! Very odd, yet alluring.

Viscous mouthfeel, that unweaves itself into a flavorful array.
Sea spray, rainier cherry, pom, hints of yeastiness, cranberry, that odd dill shows itself, a little bit of weight, acidity and tannin mingling in harmony. Long luscious finish of river stone.

The night before a 10k wine.

Dusty creek basin, dried raspberries, cranberries and rainier cherry contrast with sliced red plum, crepe paper, sunflower petal. Incredible depth and texture, with stony plum, dried black cherry, fig skin, powdery raspberry, dried violets, and a baked, black olive and red saffron aura. This is a fine burgundy, and at a price that makes you smile! — 8 years ago
