Pop 300

Shafer Vineyards

One Point Five Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

Fantastic! Intense, smoky, earthy, and sexy. Spices and cherries to boot. Pop and pour. Paired beautifully with venison. Juicy, creamy, and sweet finish. At its peak! — 9 years ago

Bressler

St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

10' Bressler. Cabernet. This is my second venture into Bressler . The first being the 2006 which was a pop & pour. This 2010 needs a nice decanting. @Martin G Rivard What can I say? We greatly appreciate your generosity. My wife's gonna snuggle up with this for the next several hours. To all my delectable friends, wishing each one of you a healthy and prosperous 2017! Happy New Year !🍾🍾 — 9 years ago

From a new estate (for me) based in Chavanay (Condrieu). This is apparently 90% Roussanne, but is remarkably Viognier-like. It's totally delicious, but a little confusing. Then again, I'm easily confused. — 10 years ago

Fattoria dei Barbi (Colombini)

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese

Just about a perfect rep of a fine Italian wine. Pop it and drink it. Paired with a nice florentine steak will make you feel like an angel baby swaddled in cloud candy. Roses, velvety tannins and fruit. — 11 years ago

Myriad Cellars

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Close to a pop n pour. One hour decant and it was ready to go. IMO, this and the Rivers Marie Napa cab are the best I've come across at this price point. — 9 years ago

We should probably have drunk this twenty years ago, but the wine is still having a respectable old age (hope I will be able to say the same)! We bought this after drinking an earlier vintage of the same wine in Florence our first trip to Italy, in 1978, when the grapes were still on the vine....

Château Latour

Premier Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1962

I suspect this didn't get quite enough air. Not quite pop and pour but it was only open for 45 mins before we drank it (we were perhaps over-concerned about the mid shoulder level). Lovely (and lively) russet core with long legs as a ruby rim; nose of pencil shavings, cigar tubes (hint of metal with lots of tobacco), blackberry stalks, and lingering aromas of compté cheese rind and venerable (on-the-edge) rose petals; long and satisfying - persistent tannins and well integrated but still present acidity. From half bottle - need to give the next one more time!!! — 10 years ago

Oakville Rosé

An impossible Rose to get, but thanks to @Henrik Poulsen I got some along with an even better story. We will be trying his Rose in two weeks with a bunch of friends. I'm sure it will be as good. Had this during the crazy heat wave a few weeks back. It made having no a/c bearable. — 9 years ago

Realm Cellars

The Bard Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2011

Time as really rewarded this vintage. The oak is well integrated. It's a rich., easy to drink well built wine. Front and mid but not as much on the back. Drink them if you have them. I'm not regretting my decision to pop this one! — 10 years ago

Venge Vineyards

Silencieux Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

I found this to be a very enjoyable wine. I was hoping for a little bit more Oak. I'm not quite sure how it would evolve over time. I always find these to be a great pop and pour wine. I never hang on to them too long in my cellar.
I would love feedback from anyone that has aged some of these to see how they evolve.

Château Lynch-Bages

Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 1985

Funky nose and a little disjointed on pop. Developed very well after an hour in the decanter. Fruit has faded but it still packs the lunch bags punch. Drink now. — 11 years ago

Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande

Yes the vintage precludes its vibrancy but this '80 is deeply engaging, put on weight throughout and was delicious. Despite pop 'n pour into small plastic cups. — 12 years ago
