Nice tertiary notes of mushroom and forest floor. Fruit is still present albeit somewhat muted. Enjoyable but not the very best from the climat. — 5 months ago

Les Saint Georges Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2019

2019 vintage. Not decanted. Tasted after being open one hour. Light body. Decent frontal concentration that glided and dimmed appropriately to the finish. Nice sustenance throughout without being overbearing in any particular facet. Last tasted 9.24.23 and it was a trip and a bit unbalanced (8.9). This was worlds better. 3.15.24. — 2 years ago

Lovely wine at Alston. Somm recommended it as being between littorai and sea smoke. Elegant with nice fruit and hint of violets, light — 5 months ago

This 1998 from magnum aged gracefully but reflects the hardness of the vintage. Still, it was enjoyable. — 5 years ago

Shea Vineyard Pinot Noir 2014

A favorite of Oregon,

Smells of freshly crushed petals.

Coming in with zest, pithe, inhaling persimmon, oregano, mint. Exhales of cedar, dried berry blend, acidified cherry. A great winery, has been for many, many years.
Finally! Spring -ish in DC..

Beautifully aromatic with exotic spice, peaches, a touch of of Freire ha & herbs.
Amazing purity on the palate with energy & precision. Rich yet bone dry. With minerality & salinity. The length is just insane. The depth even beats that. Shy apricot & peach in the background but it’s really not about the fruit. The terroir here - wow!
A spectacular & profound wine.

I've read that Gouges are hard as nails when young. Was this?

It was sleek but certainly not hard as nails. The burg hound review is spot on. It's in its drinking window now so maybe it was different a few years ago. Good value too!
