Blackberry, floral, black cherry, so deep and almost Syrah like nose. Syrah/Pinot hybrid. Elegant, sappy and pure. Classic Girard balance. Smooth even though I hate this word. So fresh with ripe tannins but provide terrific structure and depth. — 8 months ago
A little sister to the corton Charlemagne. The rollin family always offer superior value for the price. — 5 years ago
A bottle I had a couple of years ago was much more expressive than this one. This needed aggressive swirling and lots of air to coax the aromatics. The palate had a nice core of cherry fruit that became more apparent the more air it received. — 6 years ago
I loved this wine!! It would be my house white - if only Vincent would export it. He only sells this to restaurants. I went to visit him and came away empty-handed because of no shipping. C'est dommage! — 7 years ago
The aroma from this wine fills the room! However, as delicious and complex as the flavors are, in total it feels subtle and subdued; a couple years past prime. A beautiful acidity remains present from front to back, and makes the wine exceptionally food friendly — 9 months ago
We made 2 mistakes with this wine: drinking it too young and not giving it more time to air. A couple of hours decanting would have been ideal. The wine cannot be faulted for either of those! When it finally opened, a very nice treat indeed, after initial herbaceous impressions dissipated. Lovely wine really. — 3 years ago
Good tannin, fruit and spice. Almost N Rhone like. Delicious. — 7 years ago
One of top sites in the village of Pernand-Vergelesses, lies just below Île, lower on the slope with more clay and iron, planted in 1954. Straw yellow color with rich stone fruits, floral and toasty notes. On the palate flavors of apple and ripe pear with citrus, biscuit notes and gentle spice, great mouthfeel. Long finish ending with fruit, vanilla, toasty biscuit and a mineral tang. Nice! — 8 months ago
Chilled this burgundy felt restrained, minimal, and one dimensional. As it opened up though, paired with a delicious bouillabaisse, escargot and the best foie gras I’ve ever had, thus started to really come into its own. Medium body, a refined minerality but with delicious notes of crisp apple, baking spice, and an some richer, pastry like notes on the finish, this wine truly came into its own with some warmth and time. Not too rich, not too dry, a perfect balance of crisp fruit, minerality, and baked richness for shellfish dishes with a tomato base. — 2 years ago
This comes from monopole called La Batailliere that is a part of premier cru Aux Vergelesses. Little more tannic and austere with fruit juice being darker in color. Bitter notes dominate making this a very pleasurable experience of this particular terroir. — 5 years ago
Aromas of sour cherry, mushrooms, great mouth feel and accompanies food very nicely. — 6 years ago

My favorite Pernand 1er Cru. Classic nose of dark cherry fruit, brambly berry fruit, wild mint, spearmint, desiccated leaves, sous bois and citrus rind. Very complex and pure. So Fichots. Grippy, gritty, silky and dense with dark cherry fruit and forest floor inner mouth aromas and silky but substantial tannins. Needs air. Wonderful. As this airs the tannins smooth out and the energy increases as does the length.
