A much darker color than I would have expected from a 52 year old wine. Powerful, youthful and complex aromas of plums and tobacco. At this point your mind is racing , can the palate equal or exceed the nose because you know if it can you are in for a treat. A very alive , acid driven palate of plums, cherries and tea. Had an old vine creaminess component. After approximately 2 hours the wine started to take on a less open personality. — 5 years ago

Really nice wine. Fruity with great balance and some acidity asking for another sip. Had with orecchiette with rapini and roasted tomatoes ( among other things) and they were fabulous together. Earthy with a beautiful fruity, sour cherry character. — 7 years ago

2016 is low aroma vintage, but the color is exceptionally vibrant and the structure highly ordered and organized. Bit static but not dull because of its authentic character and strength. — 5 years ago
Nose was very expressive going into the decanter, under-ripe tart cherry, raspberry juice, rose.
Palate has Bing cherry, plum, flowers and a nice bite of acidity.
The bottle is generally a little tight, likely we'll do single glasses tonight and revisit tomorrow.
100% Vespolina aged in concrete, no wood influence.

Dense dried fruit flavored and violets with some savory herb and meat almost tar-like flavors. Some tannins, but the age helped keep this beautiful and velvety finish. — 9 years ago

At a glance the wine is a bright ruby. On the nose I find hints of violet and rose petal, cherry hookah, vanilla and white truffle. This full bodied wine starts out dry with a slight peppery note and has a juicy, silky finish. Goes great with breakfast. 95% Nebbiolo; 5% Merlot — 9 years ago
