Love this Bordeaux blend. The smell is awesome - lightly sweet - and I love the dryness of the wine on the palate. Still a little bit of fruit though, which I like. Great for our Bastille Day cheese board (except for the salmon eggs - it highlighted their strong salt flavor) and would buy again for a French-themed meal. — 6 years ago
On the Lawn at Tanglewood this evening with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. For Opening Night our conductor Andris Nelsons is leading MOZART (Piano Concerto No. 22 in E-flat) with one of our local treasures, Emanuel (Manny!) Ax on piano and then MAHLER (Symphony No. 5), a complex master work for which the BSO happens to be quite well practiced.
Prior notes still apply.

On the Lawn at Tanglewood this evening with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our guest conductor Herbert Blomstedt is leading an all MOZART program tonight (Piano Concerto No. 17 in G) with the incredibly talented Emanuel (Manny!) Ax on piano and then concluding with MOZART (Symphony No. 41, Jupiter).
Nose is a little tight on this right now, but it is incredibly stoney, like a walk through a stone masons lot and a neighbor two properties down recently mowed the lawn.
The palate is opening, good minerality, light acidity, tropical fruit, yet showing restraint like no other CA Sauvignon Blanc I've ever experienced. Interesting stuff, likely will finish this bottle tomorrow (with updated notes) so that we can see what extended air time reveals... — 8 years ago

Amazing nose. Brilliant nose. So complex I don’t know where to begin. Huge complex citrus. Tangelo, citrus oil and sweet pink grapefruit. Unreal spice and a complex perfume that has to be smelled to be believed. It’s so dense and so layered. Vanilla extract now. There’s so many more aromas I don’t quite have the vocabulary. But as it airs maybe they will become more clear. Nose now has more clearly defined and richer fruit. Much more depth.
Palate is unreal but closed but it’s a drooling Mozart wine. It’s all there and brilliant but young and drooling. Juicy and complex with top tier finesse. So dense yet light on its feet. Unreal clarity of tangelo and sweet citrus fruit buffered by an intense complex minerality that explodes on the finish. Wow. Needs mega mega air but it is all there and more. The finesse and complexity in the finish is unmatched. Just insane. Wow the palate has incredible focus now and the most incredible pink grapefruit ever. Wow. So good. This is elite GG.
Wow on day 2. Now the nose adds complexity with herbals that are so profound. Also anise and even lavender. Insane. Palate just glides so well. So juicy, nimble and complex. — 3 years ago
Oh wow. This is epic.
Nose is a deep pink rose. Jam your Shnozz in it deep and dense.
Palate is sweet juicy delicious fruit. A hint of spice. Finish is like a lingering Mozart note. So beautiful.
Still a bit grippy tanin wise. So still has a while to go.
Elite balance and aromatics. Got a 97 in decanter. It might hit that in 5-10.

Kitchak made some incredible wines - sorry that he sold the winery. This is a complex, dark fruit Merlot. Tannins have really softened, but still there to give it structure. If you like great Merlot, this is one of them. Another wine that shows the 2011 Napa wines have aged much better than critics initially rated them. — 7 years ago
On our sofa for Tanglewood this evening with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our guest conductor Juanjo Mena is leading BRITTEN (Four Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes), MOZART (Piano Concerto No. 9 in E-flat) with the talented Garrick Ohlsson on piano and then concluding with BRAHMS (Symphony No. 3).
We're experiencing intense thunderstorms coming through the area tonight and generally the BSO staff prevents people from gathering on the Lawn ever since a patron was struck by lightning in 2008... So for safety, we're at home enjoying beer tonight! Thank goodness for radio simulcasts!
Color is red-purple-brown, still translucent but dark. Mostly a still beer, no notable bubbles at all. Sour/cherry/oak aspects on the nose. Palate is mild-sour, which is good if you're new at these styles of beer, it's more welcoming. Palate is distinctly tart cherry, with a lingering of oak in the finish. Nice accomplishment by the brewmaster in blending of barrel-aged stocks, smooth and enjoyable! — 8 years ago

On the Lawn at Tanglewood this evening with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our guest conductor Moritz Gnann is leading WAGNER (Siegfried Idyll), MOZART (Piano Concerto No. 27 in B-flat) with the outstanding Paul Lewis on piano and SCHUMANN (Symphony No. 3, Rhenish).
Peach juice, Lemon zest, wow Lemon oil like I've never tasted before, white flowers crushed in a limestone mortar with a granite pestle, aromas of late Spring rain on new flowers growing in the midst of a granite scree slope whilst someone had been running around squeezing Lemons beforehand, crazy. Looking forward to seeing how this develops in the coming days, too interesting to finish tonight.
24hr Update: Very tropical fruit-ish on the nose, still with lemon, lemon, lemon. The lemon oil notes have backed down on the palate. My wife thinks it's limes, it's definitely lemons, she's crazy.
48hr Update: Acidity and lemon oil characteristics are beginning to subside, probably 30% less than day one, just a stellar bottle! — 8 years ago

2019 vintage. Last tasted 08.19.23 (9.5). Still medium heavy-heavy bod. Plushy nose, aggressively undying flavors and brick + mortar structure. Comparable to what it must have been like to see Mozart live back in that day. Confusing. Pure. Beyond mortal comprehension. "It's getting better all the time." 03.08.25. — a year ago
Purchased at the winery. We did a group day trip tour from Rome to Tuscany. It was March, but the vineyard and its Bose speakers was still a fun attraction. 4.5 years later, having survived a move, among other things, we finally decided to pop it.
Nose: crushed rose petals, children’s cherry robitussin, bittersweet chocolate, forest floor after a campfire nearby.
Palette: raspberry & cherry, leather glove, velvety tannin that is pretty chill. Lighter body compared to other brunello, what sometimes is referred to as “elegance” honestly, kind of like Mozart (where other Brunellos can be like Wagner or something more modern) hehe.
Finish: menthol on the finish

Now, this is a Champagne worthy of my last year in my current decade.
It’s not inexpensive but, there’s a reason for that.
From the moment I put my nose to the glass, I got a a sense of warm, inviting delicacy. There is; cream, soft ginger, fall green apples, mango, guava, slightly sour lemons, lime zest/candy, perfectly, ripe pineapple, white peach, green melons, lightly bruised pear, marmalade jam, as soft as white spice can be, grey volcanics, good chalkiness, vanillin, sea spray, lovely, melted caramel notes, yeast, bread dough to baguette crust, non funky cheese rind, toast, silvered almonds to nut skin with white & lilies, jasmine and spring flowers.
The palate enters like Tango dancers & cross-fades into ballet. Perfect richness, mousse & micro-oxygenation with gentle, absolute, perfect acidity. The minerality is fine, delicate & straight up in my wheelhouse. Cream, understated, melted butter, ginger, fall, Granny Smith apples, mango, guava, slightly sour lemons, lime zest/ peel/candy, perfectly, ripe pineapple, white peach, peach, tangerine, green melons, lightly bruised pear, some apple cider, marmalade jam, honeysuckle, herbaceousiness, a shade of mint, as soft as white spice can be, delicate, grey volcanics with limestone, good chalkiness, vanillin, sea spray, lovely, melted caramel notes, yeast, bread dough to baguette crust, non funky cheese rind, toast, silvered almonds to nut skin with, orange blossoms, white & lilies, jasmine and spring flowers. The long, amazing, well balanced finish is simply Mozart.
The 02 is a blend of 39% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay & 21% Pinot Meunier. This bottle spent at least 12 years in Krug's cellars, receiving its cork in autumn 2014.

Liaison and it’s drooling but soon it will be Mozart. Gorgeous. Spicey cranberry, earthy and forest scents. Hints of citrus and citrus peel. Superb aromas. Limpid pretty color as well. Palate is superb. Silky and sexy with lovely sweet and sour fruit. Loads of cherries and so pure. What balance and purity. Such a beautiful wine. Wow. What a showing. — 7 years ago

Color is a translucent pink-orange, mostly still (almost no carbonation natural or otherwise). Sour/Fruity aspects on the nose. Palate is a sour...leading with fruit possibly derived from cherry or blackberry, or at least those are the notes I pick up. Very refreshing, I love sours, domestic or imported! — 8 years ago

On the Lawn at Tanglewood tonight with the Boston Symphony Orchestra opening the summer season. Tonight we'll have our conductor Andris Nelsons leading two pieces by MOZART (Overture to The Magic Flute and Piano Concerto No. 24 in C minor with Lang Lang as piano soloist, a dynamic but controversial artist) and we'll conclude with TCHAIKOVSKY (Symphony No. 5).
The champagne is a beautiful salmon/light orange color. Acidity is bright, Pinot fruits are singing, chalky minerals, citrus and light trend towards red berries. A wonderful wine for the evening. Our heat wave of nearly a week dropped out today, breezy and mid 70°'s right now. — 8 years ago

Green apple, daffodil, and whiffs of raspberry, all on top of hefty shortbread. Good bubbles and great length. The 2012 grapes must have heard more Beethoven than Mozart — 6 months ago
