👃 is incredible. Black and blue fruit + olive.
Medium+ body, chewy mouthfeel. Blackberry, currant, black cherry, touch of dust, and acidity that is Corison. This is my favorite Napa Corison. Different than the ‘14s, ‘16’s, and 18’s that I love. Thanks @Cathy Corison !! — 2 years ago
We really wanted to love this, but alas, we think that around 2012 was when Caymus decided to focus on an à la carte presentation, which makes for quite a shallow encounter.
They have tapped into the logic of the Skinner box operant conditioning. We humanoids press a lever (in this case pull a cork), and a one-night-stand promptly arrives in our glass. Us peeps tend to follow the crowd (I present myself as exhibit A), but when you taste this, it makes a splash, but flatters to deceive.

Popped and poured into a decanter 30 minutes prior. Served double-blind. In the glass, the wine appears a deep garnet with some light staining and what appears to be some slight sediment. Medium+ viscosity. One the nose, a fascinating mix of spiced apple sauce, Fig Newtons, cherries, bruised strawberry, red plum, pink peppercorn, rosemary, baking spices, and pool raft (yes, that’s what you read)…and maaaaybe just a touch of the mouse which could be a clue as to where this might be from. On the palate, the wine is dry, medium tannin, medium++ acid, and alcohol medium+. This wine is complex with a long finish. Frankly, this is incredibly quaffable and ever so pretty! While I think could last longer, the low addition of sulfur has me thinking it’s best to drink these in the next few years. After all, they are delicious right now. — 10 months ago
🚨WINE HACK🚨 If you 1) own a sodastream, but no expensive wine gadgets 2) have a wine which needs to come off sediment but you don’t want to expose to oxygen [eg low/no so2 gamay], try decanting the wine carefully into a clean empty bottle pre-flooded with a few gentle pumps of co2 from your sodastream. Co2 is heavier than air. This works and I swear by it!
The Foillard was beautiful. Licorice, black raspberries, purity and poise that reminds me why I fell in love with Beaujolais in the first place, and affirms what has been an oft-times rocky love affair ever since. — 3 years ago
Celebrating our completion of the WSET Level 3 exam today!
It was a labor of love. Results won’t be released for several months, but, hey, we poured ourselves into this prep and so wine not celebrate the milestone of getting ‘er done!

Beautiful deep purple color. Plush aromas of sour cherries, plum and kirsch with just a whiff of alcohol pushing through. Juicy and vibrant on the palate with fresh acidity and fine tannins. Flavors of cherry and blackberries lead to vibrant, focused acidity. The finish is lead by notes of blueberry and kirsch followed by graphite and a floral note that lingers for 30 seconds or more. Delicious! — 7 years ago

It's time for my #FridayCabernetfix.
Deep purple in color with a short purple rim.
Pretty nose of blueberries, cooked black cherries, blackberries, figs, cedar, vanilla, spices, chocolates, earth, herbs, coffee, tobacco, licorice and black pepper.
Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, currants, black cherries, raisins, dried figs, vanilla, cedar, cola, spices, dark chocolates, coffee, earth, bitter herbs and peppercorn.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This is a gorgeous Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux blend from Napa Valley. Feels like a Napa Cabernet with a Bordeaux touch. Fruity and rich, yet elegant.
Good right out of the bottle, and better after 2 hours in the decanter, but it definitely needs longer than that.
What a great mouthfeel. I just love these Napa Bordeaux blends.
Still young and would be better in 5 to 10 years. Could be a 97+ point wine in 10 years. Will continue to age nicely in the next 20 years.
Thank you John for sharing this with me.
A blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc, 6% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot and 2% Malbec.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
94 points.

Tasted a little oxidized at first, then that blew off and then fresh, bold acidity. — 4 years ago
Wow. Light bubbles, nutty with caramel and beautiful acidity. This is one of the best 82’s I’ve had and I love this wine on song — 4 years ago

Cut, clarity, expressions of terroir in spades; lemons mashed on crushed rocks with herbs, and a touch of oxidation. One of my favorite producers and wines in all of Spain #rioja #lopesdeheredia — 10 years ago
