The nose has notes of red cherries, oak, and smoke. The palate is fruit-forward and tastes of cherries with a hint of oak. This is an easy-drinking value wine. 8.2 out of 10 — a year ago
The famed #lopezdeheredia - Their 2008 release year matched the year we got married so we ordered this at a nice restaurant on our 13th anniversary. I asked the sommelier to cool it in an ice bucket a bit and so it took some time to open up in the glass. One of the best old school #rioja - subtle dark fruit, forest floor and distinct mushroom and truffle aromas on the nose. The biggest surprise for me on the palate was the incredible freshness and bracing acidity. Forest floor, leather and dark fruit as the backup chorus. This is still such a young wine. Delicious and versatile pairing wine - worked so well with a brined chicken breast with a puff pastry side stuffed with morel mushroom and lobster. — a year ago
Splendid KS #rioja #riserva. Give it a little time in the glass for the new American oak to blow off. Then earthy dark fruit, underbrush, leather, mushrooms aromas waft out. Peppery spicy on the front palate, firm tension, mouth-swaddling generous tannins and a touch of pepper on the long finish. Incredible food-friendly wine considering the awesome QPR: $8 at Costco. — a year ago
Abrazos #winelover #wine #vino #pisco #piscolover #españa #rioja #peru — a year ago
Amazing Viñedo Singular (new single vineyard category). 100% #Tempranillo from Viña Zaco. One of the best #Rioja I have tasted lately. — a year ago
This #rioja is a nice bridge between modern style with the American oak and traditional style - bramble fruit, soft tobacco notes set off against sous bois, cremini mushroom. Nice weighty palate with deliciously quaffable acidity and yes some new oak tannins but they are well integrated. While this wine will continue to develop for another 5 years, in it’s half-decade it paired magnificently with garam masala spiced lamb chops, garbanzo bean stew (chole) and moong dal for an Indian feast on vacation. — a year ago

#rioja - This is how reasonably-priced Rioja should present after 8 years bottle age. Dark bramble fruit and black cherry aromas underlain with forest floor, mushrooms and leather. Palate has juicy acidity, oak is nicely integrated, coffee, tobacco notes towards the finish and polished tannins end-palate. It paired wonderfully with mushroom and blue-cheese pizza.
***Update - faded rapidly just a day or two later, raisiny/Madeira notes stored even in wine fridge. This Dorian Gray wine must have seen it’s faded self portrait picture.
