One of my favorite whites — 7 years ago
Every now and then A wine that I love comes around with butter and spice and everything nice and this is it! Kathryn by Hall winery 2014 Napa Cab sauv. The bouquet is spicy and oaky! Lots of black licorice. The color of coarse is very dark. You can see the thickness before giving the legs a chance to run. The initial pallet is blackberry blueberry boysenberry deliciousness. The spice hits immediately on the tongue. Oak cigar and other earthtones bring up the rear. The finish leaves your mouth coated in butter As it slips down the throat. It is not overly dry at all. I don’t need water, I just need another sip. Pure perfection as far as my palate is concerned!!!!!! — 7 years ago
By chance, sports commentator Jim Nantz and wine industry entrepreneur Peter Deutsch were together at a restaurant in Greenwich, CT, each having dinner with friends, things developed and The Calling was born. Dark Ruby with aromas of nice ripe berry fruits with earthy herb spice. On the palate cherry and blackberry fruit with candied apple spice and earthy notes. Good balance with fine tannins more time would benefit. Lingering finish ending with earthy spice notes. — 8 years ago
I think it's hard to find a Chardonnay like this in the world so I stashed a bottle. It has the butterscotch fermentation element on the nose that says "California" which I love in steady doses. And it has the live, cold and ripe citrus acid element and that I find in Chablis. On top of that it's not very buttery, it has subtle minerality, stroke of vanilla.. there's a chance you drink this wine at the right day and time and can think it's a perfect 10 Chardonnay isn't in my wheelhouse of loves but this is an exception. For me tonight it's just missing... Peaches🍑 — 8 years ago
This is the bottle I opened but not the wine I’ve had! Totally faked or doctored.
I’ve had enough of this wine and comparable Bordeaux’s to know this was not right.
Probably an over the hill (2000-2004) Australian or California Cabernet that is over oak’d, fruit forward, from a mediocre producer. Outside chance it’s a Spanish Priorat.
Wine actually wasn’t bad, but not as advertised!! — 6 years ago
A local wine to satisfy my sweet tooth. Nice and cold and STRONG @ 18 % abv. Concord, grape jam and cherry! Makes for a boozy dessert. #badandboozypod #winehoereviews — 8 years ago
Bought with anniversary gift from mom, drank with homemade pasta/hot sausage/eggplant/roast garden tomato yummy dinner :-)
Good but a little on the thin side for my taste, mike loved it.
On sale for $24 (usual price $40). — 8 years ago
Color of dark hazy purple. Nose of ample dark fruits with waves of ripe cherries, sugar plums, a bit herbs, a bit anise, slightly black tea. Taste of thick mouthfeel of sugar plum, black tea, black pepper, dense and silky, medium firm tannins, really tasty. Aftertaste of lingering sweetness, black tea, right to the point, no edge and really mellow. Enjoy it, or stock them up if you have the chance. — 9 years ago

A little portish. Compared next to 11 Barolo so stood no chance. — 7 years ago
What a phenomenal bottle! Could not believe just how rich and deep the flavors of red and purple fruits, baking spices and leather was - especially considering the age. Velvety tannins offered a sublime mouthfeel. Don't pass this up if you get a chance to taste it. — 8 years ago
This is one of the Single Block Cuvees from Two Paddocks owned by actor and raconteur, Sam Neill. Sam is an engaging and very funny guy - could have done Stand Up! From the Program and Bio - "Producers and Purveyors of Pinot to Gentry and Ratbags since 1993."
This wine was 50% whole bunch as with all 3 Cuvées offered. Textbook Otago Pinot with wild Thyme nose, cherry and luscious silky mouthfeel with fine tannin structure. — 9 years ago
Had a chance to decant this 09 for hour in restaurant, still very young, however after hour decant started showing the lovely long legged lady with the long black dress in black pearls! Pure subduction ! — 9 years ago
First drink of the 2014. Find it a little of disappointment. Little flat and dare I say, very sweet. I love Caymus so I will give it another chance and let you know — 9 years ago
Sipping Fine Wine
Recently went to tasting featuring bunch of “TheCalling” Wines. Tasted this ‘14 Pinot 2yrs ago-developed nicely. Sports commentator Jim Nantz & wine guru Peter Deutsch met by chance at CT restaurant, each having dinner w/friends. Jim had a passion for wine and was exploring the next step when Peter stopped by the table, that meeting started a collaboration. Ruby with berry fruit aromas and complex spice. On the palate cherry with vanilla oak and pepper spice. Lingering finish ending with cacao & oak notes. — 6 years ago
