Great ruby appearance with smells of creamy vanilla, orange citrus, rhubarb and sour cherry. Also a slight sweetness. Tastes of Strawberry, bubblegum or candy floss and jammy notes. A medium length with
good balance with fresh acidity. Extremely enjoyable. — 7 years ago
Good beaujolais — 8 years ago
Nose is very complex, with a sweet musky component, cinnamon, ripe cherry, and cracked stones. Opens in a surprisingly lean fashion that initially shows little fruit but then transitions to pure cherry fruit and clean stony notes as the long finish progresses. Light bodied and with crisp acids. Very distinctive style.
UPDATE: Night 2: more traditionally Beaujolais-like on the nose, with the sweet muskiness receding and intensely granitic minerality and tart cherries in the fore. In the mouth, the pungency of the tart cherry fruit is almost SweeTart-candy-like. Mouth-watering acids in the long finish. Upping it from a 9.0 to a 9.2. — 10 years ago

A little birdie told me Gamay for Turkey Day. So we opened a mag. — 11 years ago

Cru Beaujolais from a classic producer. Tons of tart red berries, little wet rock, some forest floor. Medium acidity and long finish. Yum. — 4 years ago
Notes on the nose of dark raspberry, grape candy, black cherry, a touch of spice and flowers. There’s also an earthy meatiness which starts off stronger, but then quiets down and melts into the background. On the palate blackberry compote with black licorice, singed blackberry bramble, and dark flowers, a smattering of red berries and few sprigs of herbs to the mix. The fruit had a nice balance being just at the midpoint of being tart and ripe.
Paired with focaccia and cheese plate.

We enjoyed this wine in a trad French restaurant in Lille — 8 years ago
Taking it to a rich, yet extremely ethereal level for Beaujolais. Forget that lipstick and classic bojo terroir, this is its own Metras signature. Classic rich rose water. I can't wait to let this sit for a while too. Once that intensity fades this is going to be pure silk. — 9 years ago
Simply a beautiful wine! — 11 years ago
My next menu will have a section titled "Gang of Four"... — 11 years ago
Strawberry jam and a little smoke on the nose, clean and crisp on the palate with red fruits and juicy acidity. Early days for this but well worth drinking now. — 12 years ago
A light Beaujolais with bright fruit. April 2025. — a year ago
Almost like Guava and tropical fruit right off the bat. Bright with a beautiful color. — 5 years ago
Ripe, dark fruit on the nose. Tart cherry a d ripe fruits. Nicely balanced. — 6 years ago
Super classic, lean, red fruit nose, a little reticent, with air gives more, it not super complex. Drinking well now. Good with salmon fried rice. — 8 years ago
Métras is really a new favorite. — 9 years ago
2nd bottle spread out over 3 days. This really is a fascinating mix of earth & fruit, masculine & feminine, present day enjoyment & hints of future delight. Intriguing, better w second bottle(no homeboy clouding my judgement)-so i have a case now. — 10 years ago
Very nice. Bright fruit, earth, a flash of tannin. Little pricey — 10 years ago
Tart cranberries, delicate mineral and flowery notes ...a glass of deliciousness — 11 years ago
Still carrying a little extra plushness from the warm vintage. In a great spot, and one of those wines that just seems to evaporate. — 11 years ago
Bright, fresh, crisp. A bit of chill on it for the afternoon sun/shade, with a cheese plate . Spot on! — 12 years ago

This aged Beaujolais is just gorgeous, crushed red berries, minerals, floral, great acidity, long, lingering finish, could easily evolve another 5 years in a cold cellar, truly an outstanding wine from a great Beaujolais vintage!! — 10 months ago
