Has Vermentino fallen out of favour with Italians and is being replaced by a taste for Chardonnay?
Maybe but I don't want to believe it yet.
On hot summer days there is not much more refreshing than a well chilled glass of Vermentino. Chilled is a must - it still has enough oomph in the nose to release its floral essence. Once it comes up to room temp it can be overwhelmingly perfumey IMHO. Good acid balance.
I'm pretty convinced that you can trust anything from Fontori to be a solid choice. — 3 months ago

Aged in new French oak. Pure Syrah. Inky ruby coloration. On the nose, dark cherry, cassis, minerals, earth, leather, vanilla. On the palate, full bodied, rich mouthfeel, dark berry, cassis, spice and loads of chocolate. Long chocolaty finish. Tannins have mellowed significantly. $60 at total wine. — 2 months ago

Located in the heart of Umbria, pale lemon color with aromas of stone fruit, citrus and honey floral notes. On the palate flavors of apple, pear and peach with citrus and nutty notes. Good acidity, balance and structure, medium+ finish ending with salty mineral character. Nice! — 7 months ago

Dayum, Italian white wines nearly always over-deliver for the price. Touch of white flowers, orchard fruit, lovely balance, paired handsomely with precisely-fried calamari. #antinoriwines have been ever reliable for me. — 6 months ago

Quite deep ruby , garnet core with quite wide garnet rim . Apparently quite a deep , healthy colour for the age. Quite herbal on the nose , dried spices , coffee , with old wood , cacao , touch of mint and spicy tobacco . On the palate this shows good elegance , with sous bois , cassis , dried cherry , tobacco , grafite and rose tinged black tea . Quite fresh acidity and lightly drying tannins . Reasonable length , spicy , herbal tinged finish . Though this is still giving quite a lot of pleasure it is probably at the end of its drinking window , so I would drink up bottles in the near future . — 2 months ago
