Barbera d' Alba 2016 - Giacomo Fenocchio. Vibrant and fleshy, with a deep mineral vein pushing forward its sweet aromas of gooseberry, mulberry, licorice and cocoa powder. Sharp acidity and terroir-driven salinity intertwine with mounting flavors of sweet red berries and blood orange. Finishes pure and lean despite the 15% abv . Awesome! — 7 years ago
So much going on here. Aromas of violets, black currant, raspberry, and just a little graphite. Fruit flavors intertwine with green bell pepper, raspberry, and pencil. Light bodied - at first soft and juicy but then firm with elegantly integrated grippy tannins. Finish of image evoking minerals. — 8 years ago
Great to find a Burgundy on a list that is decently priced and ready to drink. Floral and dried leave notes intertwine with red and dried cherry, cranberry fruit in the nose. Supple and pretty with an elegant edge for a Nuits. Earth, mineral and forest floor support red fruit tones. Missing just a touch of density and complexity to merit a better score but it is a throughly enjoyable bottle. — 8 years ago
So. Much. Fruit! Bright cherries, ripe blueberries, slightly tart currants ... an amazing effort, outdoing the superlative 2013 vinyl rage. Even more excellent is the fact that this wine is quite young - lay it down for two years and impress your friends. — 10 years ago
The 2004 Quilceda Creek is a stunning wine, with a nose that evolves to reveal layers of boysenberry, cassis, charcoal, dark chocolate, pain grillé and exotic spice. Truly, this is among the best of Washington, there is a reason why Quilceda has attained cult status. On the palate, massive structure is deceptively cloaked in silky, velvety, inky overtones. Steeped blackberries, roasted black cherries and cedar intertwine to give lift, polish, and a most luxurious, elegant finish. The balance is impeccable. — 10 years ago
bright crisp and amazingly clean. fruits dance. tamgh and citrus intertwine. short finish but just the right amount of dryness. excellent wine for the price point. — 6 years ago
It’s common to hear wine drinkers use the colloquialisms like “a good Tuesday night bottle” or “an excellent everyday drinker.” Well, this is a spectacular Saturday night wine; deserved of the spotlight and worthy of much anticipation.
Blue and black fruit compete for who’s more pure, while the savory creosote and cedar intertwine, and the acid and tannin do their dance. There’s timing and choreography... it’s wine in HD and Surround Sound. Extraordinary. — 7 years ago
When it comes to under $30 reds from Napa I usually just avoid the category entirely. Much of it follows a Prisoner or Caymus formula with inferior fruit and perverse oak treatment. There's just too many wines that should be a third of their price... and even then I would rather overpay for a different style of wine. Kudos to the Titus brothers for producing an exceptional under $30 red blend from Napa that could easily pass for something twice the price. And props for the truth in advertising. Their own tasting note is so spot on that my only comment is 'ditto' ... "A berry basket of aromas immediately greet your nose with enticing aromas of ripe blueberries, blackberry cobbler, chocolate covered strawberries, raspberries and vanilla. On the palate, dark cherry, cassis and tart plum intertwine, setting the stage for wonderful acidity and well integrated oak. Another wildly delicious vintage of Andronicus, the 2013 is lush, lively and quaffable.” — 8 years ago
I have only had Greek wines one time, at a conference reception, so essentially, this is my first, focused tasting of a Greek wine, the 2015 Alpha Estate Malagouzia Turtles Vineyard, PGI Florina (Macedonia, Greece), obviously my first malagouzia as well. My first impression of this wine is that it is a bit reminiscent of torrontés. In the glass, it displays a pale, greenish-yellow hue. Honeysuckle and stone fruit aromatics leap from the glass. Mouthwatering grapefruit, green apple, and melon flavors intertwine with a sur lie induced, textured mouthfeel. The result is a wine that's both juicy and substantial, with tangy acidity and a finish that goes on and on. (sample) — 9 years ago
The 2008 Jonata La Tierra is stylistically consistent with the 2007 I reviewed last fall. A small-lot blend of 94% Sangiovese and 6% syrah, the nose is sweet and fruit-laden. Black cherries and fleshy plums intertwine layers of vanilla and cola. On the palate, fine tannins and a medium level of acidity provide backbone to this ripe, voluptuous Santa Ynez Sangio. Only at the finish is there a suggestion of savoriness; with barely perceptible hints of earth and leather. 14.6% ABV — 10 years ago
The Suenen Champagne ÀCramant Brut Rosé is a blend of 93% Chardonnay and 7% Pinot Noir. Orangey-salmon in the glass, the nose is as delicate and subtle as the perlage, with dewy cherry blossoms, wild strawberries and mineral notes. Clean, exact and precise, everything about this stunning Cramant communicates elegant balance and a portrait of the soil. Raspberry sorbet, orange zest, and rhubarb gracefully intertwine with crushed limestone and fossilized shells, sea foam and salinity. Disgorged 1.14.14 — 10 years ago
Christmas morning wine! Love how the finely integrated tannins intertwine with lush candied sour cherries and blackberries. Rather invigorating fruit bomb that extends well...Santa was good to me!! — 6 years ago
Another stellar release of this excellent Merlot, this vintage is labeled with the Napa appellation rather than the more specific Oakville. Are they the same grapes, at least in part? Uncertain but the flavors remain constant: beautiful bright blueberry and cherry fruits, nice rich mineral tannins, but not too thick nor too acidic. Hints of black pepper and vanilla are applied with admirable restraint. — 7 years ago
Big black currant and licorice intertwine with smoky blackberry and charcoal aromas. Pine nettle and blackberry reduction with eucalyptus, anise and cinnamon, smoldering cedar, gum Arabic and grape leaves. A little tightly wound initially, but sprung open into an array of dark fruits in a charred black basket. #columbiavalley #washingtoncab #singlevineyard #ConnerLee #ava #washingtonstate — 8 years ago
I've always been a fan of Léoville-Barton, and this is another reminder why. Densely perfumed aromas of cassis, blackcurrant, and black cherry intertwine with tobacco, fig, vanilla, espresso, and iron giving fair warning for what's about to happen to your palate. And then it does, in spades. — 8 years ago
The finally integrated tannin structure provides framework for the wine. Flavorful layers of dried cherries, clove, and Cedar intertwine with hints of dark chocolate. Completely enjoyable experience in an attractive a bottle. — 9 years ago
Climb into the brown submarine! This is subterranean and deliciously dank. Big hot, black soil notes intertwine with raw cocoa nib and smoky blackberry. Cedar and briar, leather and biomass. This is a stubble and schist wall of tannins up front, with a king-fu grip! — 10 years ago

Bold wine with soft tannins and dark berry flavors. Blackberries, currants, and hints of cocoa intertwine to create a structured long-lasting finish. — 5 years ago
