The 2008 Jonata La Tierra is stylistically consistent with the 2007 I reviewed last fall. A small-lot blend of 94% Sangiovese and 6% syrah, the nose is sweet and fruit-laden. Black cherries and fleshy plums intertwine layers of vanilla and cola. On the palate, fine tannins and a medium level of acidity provide backbone to this ripe, voluptuous Santa Ynez Sangio. Only at the finish is there a suggestion of savoriness; with barely perceptible hints of earth and leather. 14.6% ABV

Huge fruit and very rich - hints of blackberry jam and wild cherries, adore the smoky finish too - keep in mind I am with family on vaca so I might be rating it a tad high

Well made but not my style. Too much wood, alcohol & everything... Except grace & balance. Made for a big score in a big tasting- not for dinner with Cinnamon.

Mmm. Complex, dry but not cloyingly so, full flavoured. Chocolate and leather, some spicy notes and plum.

2+ hr decant. Plush round blue fruit with smoky notes. Some slight heat is present but subsides. Overall, very good central coast syrah blend!
