Beautiful mysterious Sicilian red! Much better than Cats. Would drink again and again. — 7 years ago
Just opening and decanting now, sticking with Burgundy again tonight. As it happens we had another Jadot (Dom. Gagey) bottle in the cellar, thought the Ladoix blanc was the only one previously.
Nose of bright spring cherry, supermarket not farmers market, tinge of alcohol.
Palate is gravel-cherry, sweet, this started quite tannic but mellowed a bit in the decanter. Drinking quite nice for an everyday Pinot, not overly complicated, but enjoyable. I'd say this bottle could hold easily for 6 years past vintage.
A good pairing with burgers hot off the grill tonight. Burgers are an interesting meal at our house, cats seem to like the aroma, so if you're not watching, paws will be sneaking up on your plate from an adjacent chair. 😺😼😺😼
24hr Update: Acidity had mellowed, I enjoyed the wine a little more after 3-4 hours of air than today, but was a great pairing with grilled pork chops tonight. — 8 years ago
I laughed I cried it was better than cats — 9 years ago
Punchy at first go, but the cats got weird and we liked it. Strawberries and raspberries with Tabasco or leather, had to tell. — 2 years ago
Loved this. With Jimmy and crew and ate some sautéed mushrooms (foraged by Nick) and sushi grade pickerel from Alex’s son’s store. Went beautifully. Nice citrus, hint of grapefruit, but not too sharp and no cats pee👍. — 4 years ago

A bit disjointed at first, then Became a delicious beverage, lip smacking good — 9 years ago
Yes, this is typical NZ Sauvignon on the nose, pungent, green nettles, tinned asparagus and peas and cats pee, but with a few years bottle age, this is fresh and bright with some depth on the palate. Great example. — 10 years ago
Nose has ripe plum, cedar shavings, dried blackberry, over-ripe black cherry, crushed black currant, menthol syrup and dried violets.
Palate has dried black currant, moist soil, cedar shavings, moist cigar, ripe blackberry, dried black cherry, rose hip tea with light tannins.
A beautiful cork, almost no soak; pulled clean with a standard screw. This is really in the zone tonight after a 6H decant. Drink 2022-2028 from proper storage.
Paired to Allen Bros USDA Prime Hanger with Dijon/Rosemary/Garlic/Lemon Zest marinade. Grilled to great 130° centers, 10m rise/rest to absolute perfection.

I mean, cats! But also very a tasty wine. — 6 years ago
The Cats movie is going to film their actors in mo-cat suits. Twizzlers are a great movie snack. This wine tastes like Twizzlers in all the right ways. Can’t wait to drink this and see Cats this December. From Domaine LA — 7 years ago
After a painful night of passing a kidney stone then having to make the difficult decision to put down one of my cats I needed a good wine tonight. This Merlot is full of flavor, full bodied and out of this world. I really need this tonight. Not a good day 😪 R.I.P. sweet little one eyed kitty — 8 years ago

Fonseca Port was founded in 1822 and successive generations of the Guimaraens family have upheld the Company’s reputation. The Bin No. 27 was created over a century ago for family consumption, and only released commercially in 1972. Sits in large wood cats for 4 years. Rich texture, ripe fruit flavors of blackberry and cherry. Smooth with good balance on lingering finish ending with a sweet fruit character and some spicy notes. Consistent quality y/o/y. Can be consumed over a few weeks. Tasting Sample. — 9 years ago
Orange wine at its best! Even the cats approve! — 9 years ago

[41% Tempranillo, 29% Tannat, 22% Grenache, 6% Syrah, 2% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11.1% ABV] Uh, 2% CabSauv, and the wine is labeled as such in Delectable?? I guess I should just be happy they correctly identified this as the LCF Home Vineyard?? Anyway, l remember how, after the first 2-3 vintages (say, 2008-2010??), this was made in such small quantities, that even after begging Hank for my then-usual 6 bottles of this Sierra Foothills blend from the 10 acre (?) vineyard where their house and goats were being run, but always understood the super tight allocations. A field blend, with perhaps more rattlesnakes than grapes (of course, an exaggeration, though their dogs and cats might have agreed??), the complexity of this amazing field blend (the proportions of which ALWAYS varied year-to-year, depending on the weather and how the different varietals performed), which is why I always found myself begging for more, every year!! With all that said, I’ve found myself VERY SAD that Hank (winegrower/winemaker extraordinaire) and his beautiful French wife Caro (who made amazing goat cheeses from their herd of goats, it was always fascinating to me how the goats had ZERO issues with the poison oak all over their property), have closed down LCF!! Honestly, these two are the finest winery folks I’ve EVER had the pleasure of meeting and tasting their wines!!! — 6 days ago
