Rio Sordo Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2018

Closing the night during the fifth set of Sinner victory at the Melbourne Tennis Open

No need to wait, tannin is solved
Great concentration in the glass
Not heavy though

Super enjoyable and definitely drank in good company and a fantastic historical evening for Italian tennis πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

A great result for the 22 year old Sinner. Many more Grand Slam titles in the future for this worthy champion.

Antica Terra Collective Tasting. An herbaceous grenache?? Is it possible? A plume of rosemary and thyme aroma in the face that doesn’t back off. Strawberry fruit plays in the background. β€” 9 months ago

Very fresh and elegant, though the tannins are still quite firm. Truffles and roses, purple fruit, leather. An amazing value in well crafted Barolo. β€” 6 years ago

Nice noise. Delicious cranberry that little sticky on the back end. This is a do again wine. β€” 7 months ago

Castelletto Barolo Nebbiolo 2016

Deep woods, dirt, blood, on the nose . Lots of blue/red fruits. A bit tight, I PnP, gave it a good 45 mins out. I get some wood… now that could be my weird post covid mouth….or not.
A β€˜16 from Castelletto, lush and forward, but I sense lots of aging potential. I have 1 more. No rough edges, a bit of acidity on the back which is nice and lifting.
Tannins nicely integrated and fine. Manzone’s site only indicates neutral casks, not what wood specifically.

Riserva Bricco delle Viole Barolo Nebbiolo 2011

One of the best wines I’ve had in my life. Truly spectacular. All the things were there. Structure, balance, the fruits of Barolo, all of it. No sense in going over it. Memorable to say the least β€” 4 years ago

Hitting its stride. Well balanced with smooth finish. Dare I say a little Burgundian - very light with a touch of cherry. β€” 7 years ago
