Riserva Monfortino Barolo Nebbiolo 2008

Second bottle from this vintage that I have enjoyed but this one I purchased from a local wine shop. Opened very nicely after 2.5 hours and enjoyed over 5 hours. Cherry notes were bursting through but mature and deep. Blended wonderfully with the earthiness. This wine is still a baby and think I will do my best to sit on my remaining 2008s for at least 5 more years. — a day ago

Era Ora Langhe Riesling 2021

Light yellow in color with a golden hue.

Nice Riesling nose with diesel notes and citrus.

Medium bodied with medium plus acidity.

Showing citrus, ripped lemons, apples, spices, light diesel and light honey.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity and a tangy finish.

Still young and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly, but already enjoyable, even by itself.

13% alcohol by volume.

90 points.

Langhe DOC Nebbiolo 2022

Pretty color of light red, with medium intensity.

Earthy nose with raspberries, strawberries, earth, green vegetables and light forest floor.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with cherries, plums, light raspberries, spices, peppercorn, tobacco and chocolates.

Medium finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a nice Nebbiolo from Piedmont. Elegant and robust. Tangy and interesting.

Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel.

Will continue to age nicely in the next 5 years.

Good by itself, and better with food.

Nebbiolo grapes were aged for 6 months in large Slavonian oak barrels.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

@Joshua Fisher think its safe to say its no longer improving 😂. I was sceptical but 4 of us shared it and everyone enjoyed it. Can imagine there will be serious bottle variation and we needed the Durand to get it open. Cheers!

The 2019’was decidedly better but this is still very good traditional Chianti. — 2 months ago

#AgedWineTuesday

Dark brick in color.

Pretty nose of stewed red fruits, light oak, spices, caramel, sweet chocolates notes, smoked meat and black pepper.

Light to medium in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with raspberries, sweet cherries, cooked plums, earth, light forest floor, tobacco leaf, herbs and light black pepper.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy strawberries.

This 42 year old Barolo is just gorgeous now. Drinking beautifully with great complexity and mouthfeel. Elegant and rich. Well balanced and powerful.

Feels like it still has power in it to last even longer, although I don't see it getting much better from this point on. Will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 to 10 years.

Easy drinking right out of the bottle, and good by itself as a sipping wine. Still showing great acidity and feels vibrant and very much alive. Delicious, powerful and delectable.

This is a wonderful experience. I just love tasting these kind of aged wines.

100% Nebbiolo grapes were aged for 12 months in cement vats and then for 5 years in Slavonian oak barrels.

Villero Barolo Nebbiolo 2013

Poured into a Swan decanter immediately prior to service and enjoyed over a several hour period. The 2013 “Villero” pours a deep garnet with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears and no signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing with a gorgeous, powerful bouquet of dark and red fruits: black cherry, pomegranate, cranberry, tar, roses, talcum powder, and dry stony earth. On the palate the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long, grippy a freaking delicious. This is showing really well but there is no end in sight. Drink now with patience but this should reward an even great bounty done the road and turn heads through 2045+. — 2 months ago

@Jae Cho it really is. But when you have multiples, it’s a little easier to check in on a bottle and since it’s Villero, I feel like you can get away with early drinking
