Tart. Medium to full bodied. — 7 months ago
The ‘19 is 53% Dolcetto, 44% Barbera, and just 3% Nebbiolo. If you like GD Vajra’s Rosso efforts like me, you will love this wine. Blue fruits and fresh berries abound, you can taste the Dolcetto and Barbera. Probably less Nebbiolo than Vajra to keep things more appealing for American palates? Just a guess… count me in the minority Nebbiolo+ camp. Still, plenty of brightness, low-ish ABV, no faults, and completely gluggable… this is a fun and tasty red. Thank goodness this is possible from plantings in Cali. Drink chilled. — 3 years ago
A new vineyard to me , again great potential with seductive taste and nose. — 5 years ago
Not everyday I drink Italian Pinot! Dark and full bodied for a Pinot noir. Definitely taste the terroir of piedmont in my glass. An astonishing 15.5% ABV. Very unique wine. Drink up geeks. — 7 years ago

Fireworks out of the gate. One of the best values and quality barolos I’ve had in awhile. — 7 months ago
Absolutely splendid! Enjoyed with a SNARFs Italian sandwich. This wine is underrated and good luck finding it in Colorado… a vaccum for quality. Brought this back from Mecca in my luggage. Nice one to drink to your face on Coors 150th anniversary in Golden, CO. Enough of a rant. Thanks for reading! Another moment wasted in the company of JC, amen. — 7 months ago

— 6 years ago
Feb 22, 2016. Loved this, 2010 vintage. Must have aged well. Med-full bodied. Soft tannins. — 8 years ago
@Delectable Wine : This is Domaine Les Monts Fournois’s Vallée 75 Mois de Cave - Premier Cru NV de Luxe. I didn’t see it in the database.
From winemaker Juliette Alips (Louis Latour, GD Vajra, Louis Roederer), cousin of the Bereche brothers (who are helping consult).
I love any and all things by Bereche, so when this new producer became available to try, I bought this as well as the vintage Grand Cru Cramant (which I posted a month or two ago).
As the name suggests, this receives 75 months on the lees. Base 2015, disgorged Sept ‘22. Blend of Pinot Noir (70%), Chardonnay (20%), and Pinot Meunier (10%). What I enjoyed about this over the Cramant was how Bereche-like it was. Powerful, beautifully ripe, textural as expected from the extended lees contact. Spiced golden apple, Mirabelle, layers of ripe and exotic yellow fruit before channeling the darker red berry fruit. Kiss of toast and sea spray at the finish. Wears its 5.5g/l dosage really well. I enjoyed this quite a bit. 93+ — 7 months ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed over a couple of hours. No formal notes but I can assure all that this is freaking delizioso. Loads of sexy red fruits: fresh bramble fruit, Montmorency cherry, pomegranate, cranberries along with some orange peel...and a tar pit…surrounded by a wall of roses. The tannins are so firm (high) right now. Acid is medium+. The finish is impossibly long, drying and savory. This is incredible and the only reason I opened one now is because I wanted to try while young since I have multiples. The 2019 vintage is the real deal. Best after 2029 and should be a stunner through 2069. — 9 months ago

Bold with gripping tannins. Great mouth feel. — 4 years ago
Tart strawberry with cherry liqueur, some white pepper and rose petals. There’s plenty of acid, balanced with a sappy sweetness that make this wine approachable, Reminds me of another northern Italian varietal in the lovely Vajra Rosso: Freisa
SommSelect. Thanks for this one, Mike! — 5 years ago
i think this rosé fires on all pistons. i have a simple rubric for my "needs" from a killer rosé: 1. acid/agility 2. minerals 3. delecate fruit.
for rosé wines if low concentration, i seek out intensity within the "treble clef" aspects of the wine. i really dig a tavel, or a rosato wine out of barolo (vajra specifically) if i'm looking for more rounded, and sometimes cuisine specific rosé styles. but 9 times out of 10, i'm really looking for a wicked quick palate impression, a crisp finish and a wide range of food pairing options.
the wine also has (with this vintage) a shrunken sense of varietal character compared to the previous %100 pinot noir vintages and i'm bot the least bit mad about it. the glouglou is string with this one.
fruit impressio.mn is initially tart with a supple, gooseberry finish that accessed a personal nostalgia for me.
i think i'll drink another tomorrow. — 7 years ago

Popped and poured; no formal notes. The 2019 Luigi Baudana “Serralunga d’Alba” shows bright red and dark fruits, roses, tar and dried earth. Tannins are high and acid is at least medium+ but one can tell that the typical elegance of Baudana is present. A baby and while it’s very good right now, patience will be rewarded. Should drink well past 2040.
