John C. Sullenger Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

2022 vintage. Decanted and tasted after 30 minutes. Medium/medium-heavy body. Ripe nose. This was supple and giving from the get-go. Nice mineral subtleties beneath the richness currently. Thank you @Neil Valenzuela 12.10.25. — 8 days ago

Plexus Shiraz Blend 2021

This Aussie GSM was much richer than most Rhône wines that I’ve enjoyed - more red fruit and compote. Enjoyable albeit not overly complex. — 2 months ago

John Sebastiano Vineyard Pinot Noir

Have had this 2019a few times over past 5 years . Still young but beguiling complexity. Spices like juniper berry rosemary clove nutmeg . Cranberry and cherry fruit with a stemmy forest aspect. In a dinner wine night of Pinot from around the world this was the standout — 4 days ago

Smooth as silk. 2011 vintage is tasting great. Plum, boysenberry, black currant, tobacco notes. — 17 days ago

Light gold color. Grapefruit and white flowers on the nose. You can tell a Riesling producer made this. Ample sweetness, more than my liking for a Gewurz. Medium depth with some nice acidity. — a month ago

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Fancy bottle. This was a gift from my friend given for me to try as a long aged wine she loved. Still has a dark color 11 years on. Aromas are perfumed and musky. Has a bit of berry. Bit of fancy soap or shampoo. Wet stone. Flavors are full and ripe. Juicy couture. Plenty of flinty and soil to go with the deep caisis and olive. This is balanced yet big. A Napa gem for sure. Lovely Cab. — 7 days ago

St. Estèphe Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2016

Everything you wish for in a very-day Bordeaux.
Black currants, a touch of cedar wood, a bit of gravel and a pinch of spice.
And this ‘16 is singing right now with perfectly mellow tannins, still quite a bit of fruit but the depth of flavors is already shifting. Precise, juicy, on the lighter vs fuller side. So drinkable. Delish!

John Duval Wines

Entity Barossa Valley Shiraz 2017

A perfect balance between oak and fruit (blackberry) from this Barossa Shiraz. Great winemaking from John Duval who has quite the CV. John was Chief Winemaker at Penfolds from 1986 until 2002 being only the 3rd custodian of Penfolds Grange after Max Schubert (creator of Grange) and Don Ditter. In 2020 this wine received Shiraz of the Year and 99 points from the James Halliday Wine Companion. The product of old vines in the Barossa. Luscious but in balance and overall - delicious. — 2 months ago
