Grusse en Billat Côtes du Jura Chardonnay 2013

France goes through to the knock out round of the world cup - this calls for a little celebration! The nose is a tiny bit oxydative already with cooked apples, lemon, pear, a buttery note and some white flowers lingering in the back. This is a seriously complex nose. The palate is extremely well made with a massive acid backbone but with some width and weight. There is almost a thickness quality to the mouthfeel at first reminding that of a premier cru white burgundy in the côte de beaune. The difference is in the finish with is very fresh, vertical, made of lemony touches all through the end and which lasts for a good minute. This is great stuff! — a day ago

Cuvée Nicolas François Billecart Brut Champagne Blend 2006

We love this juice! It’s starting to show some of our favorite bubbly tertiary aromas and flavors - baked apple and quince, dried lemon peel, hazelnut, blanched almond, marzipan - but it undoubtedly had the bones for a longer runway. Les Chalasses Marnes Bleues Côtes du Jura Savagnin 2013

En-magnum. Elevated to another level with the cheese board and notably the only white that could really keep up with the Rieslings during the night. The flavours of salted almonds, beeswax, hay, and light smokiness just went so well with the Comté. Mama mia! The wine was complex, very straight, yet dense and had a lovely textural richness. Lots of citrus and minerals, as well as spicy nuances to complete the notes. Even more mineral on day two.

NB: SC firmly believes this and the Les Vignes de Mon Père are Ganevat's best cuvees and perhaps the two greatest sources of Savagnin anywhere.

Pressed dried flowers on the nose. Smoke, hay and flinty minerals float on the exquisitely dry palate. A lot of yeasty complexity. Some curry notes round out the finish. — a month ago

Clos Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 1999

Taken to Hawksmoor in NYC for our uncle’s 75th. Decanted in hotel for 7 hrs before dinner. Light to medium gold color, heavy in the glass. At first the nose is muted with light citrus and white flower notes. Late in the evening after 10 hrs of air this finally blossomed into the Raveneau they is known and loved. Notes of citrus fruit, ocean breeze, kiwi, white stone, white clay and tan spice. Acidity finally came on too. Great wine but still too young. Needs 5-10 years of additional age to be in the ”go” zone. 94++ — 10 days ago

Bright Ruby color with aromas of fresh red berry fruits and hints of floral spice. On the palate flavors of cherry, raspberry and currants with notes of herb pepper spice, good acidity and balance. Medium+ finish, fine soft ripe tannins, ending with a juicy fruit and floral character. Nice value! — a month ago
