Drinking pretty well for such a young Chablis.
Mouthfeel is nicely round & creamy. Ripe, Meyer Lemon, green apple, pineapple, lime pulp with some skin, topical melons, guava, chalky power, saline, sea fossils, limestone, touch of caramel, hint of white spice on the long set, yellow & white spring flowers, cool, round acidity, nicely balanced and well polished finish that last nearly two-minutes landing squarely on white spice.
A conversation was shared with me from Ralph at K&L who has been there 40 plus years that he had with their Burgundy buyer who just returned from his market trip to Burgundy. Ralph asked him what vintage he would compare the 2022 Burgundy vintage to. His reply was, the only vintage I could compare 2022 to is 1959! That’s a huge statement. — 2 months ago
We did 21 barrel samples so 2020 bottle shot. Bottled in August. Super expressive nose, ripe and exotic. green pea, salt, but so complex and detailed. So much nuance. Silky and complex and has amazing finesse and elegance with an exciting and sapid finish, what energy as well. So mineral on the finish and tremendous complexity. Also a purity that is out of hand.

Tasting at Moore B. Owner couple present but didn’t speak, looking uncomfortable. Great line up though. Nice light bodied lively red Burg with emphasis on cherry notes. From a figure thin long plot that’s le diut — 2 months ago
Subtle notes of stone fruits, but somewhat dominated by phenols. This subsided with air, but influenced my experience. Palate was lean and clean with nice salinity. Acid was soft, but balanced. I did anticipate better from this producer. — 3 months ago
Loved. Perfectly balanced. — 3 months ago
Nose is so airy and mineral with a bit of fat but not much. Seashells. oyster bed, some green apple and lovely wet rain effect. A scene in nature as I like to say. Palate is rich and ripe but with so much nerve and energy and an icing on the cake like texture. Great purity, density and concentration. Long, tangy finish. Really compelling and a bit cold and young so will follow. Nose gets some lemon curd and spice now with air. Wonderful combo of opulence and tension. Really nailed the vintage. — 5 months ago
Wow. So mineral and pretty. So many seashells and a huge dash of iodine. Smells like there is a ton of material there. Palate is ripe but less ripe than a 17 Lechet with insane salinity and great freshness. Long. Really good acidity and has more acid than a 17 Lechet from Monday and less gras. This is so Chablis. Really compact and just so well made. Showing brilliantly. — 8 months ago
Oily lime and slate. Sea spray, oyster shells, hints of white pepper. Perfectly balanced. Succulent and vivid. Long. Really good — 9 months ago
A bit more advanced than I would have expected but still on this side of premox. Fleshy with notes of golden fruit, some light notes of tropical tang (guava, pineapple banana). Settled in the palate. Fleshy and poised and balanced. I’d drink up but a very thorough wine — 4 months ago
Showed well. Classic. — 9 months ago
MDT side by side I’ve always wanted to do! 😍
François Raveneau “Montée de Tonnerre” 2013- Now for Raveneau’s MDT where the Domaine has always particularly excelled. Similarly floral and elegant in its bouquet, it is more powerful than the Dauvissat, and there is additional emphasis on its freshness, salinity and crushed oyster shell minerality. The palate shows excellent depth, texture and waxy yellow fruit that’s driven home by a racy citrus inflicted acidity that leads to its long and vibrant finish.
This was a much closer “race” than I anticipated, and only a slight overall edge goes to Raveneau for its power, vibrancy, depth and texture. The Dauvissat is more open, requiring less time to show all that it can be, but that wasn’t a surprise so the Raveneau was given a bit more air. The Dauvissat may even be a bit more complex at this stage in its life but the Raveneau seemingly will be longer lived. (Although still an early drinking vintage especially by Raveneau standards). Most importantly it was a great side by side that I hope to do again! 🙌🏻 — 2 years ago
