Birthday celebration for Anne-Marie. Wonderful gift from my friend @David A Lentine - thanks so much, David.
We have read good things about this wine, and finally we are able to experience it, during a life event.
A wonderful panoply of flowers, vanilla, cinnamon and sweetness excite the senses. On the palette, the wine is prodigious. It has a royal structure, and depth. The palette profile is restrained, yet powerful. Beautiful dark fruits, combine with a sweetness that my wife (and I) loves. A hint of cloves, sweet tobacco and maple finish an outstanding Napa example. 15.5% abv, while relatively high, does not raise its head. This is a benchmark Napa cab. — 9 years ago

Tropical fruits on the nose.
Palette is dominated with exotic fruits, primarily peaches. White grapefruit and cut flowers provide a text-book experience. Finishes with preserved lemons and almonds.

New producer for me. Really pretty and sappy. Not as serious as most offerings from the commune. The '10 lust continues. For now or later. — 11 years ago
While history of Failla (pron: FAY-la) is short it is not without its complexities. Founded as Failla Jordan in 1998, it took its name from the husband-and-wife team of winemaker Ehren Jordan and fellow debtor Anne-Marie Failla. That year they planted vines but began buying fruit to make wine. Fresh fruit aromas with citrus and honey scents. On the palate melon, pineapple and lemon zest flavors with light toasty notes. Savory, well balanced on lingering finish, great mouthfeel ending with mineral tones — 8 years ago
A throughly captivating wine.
An explosion of citrus notes and honied fruits on the nose. The palette is impeccable. As Anne-Marie detected, at the initial blush you would think you were about to taste a dessert wine. Your senses are rushed with nectarines, pears and peaches. Such a beautiful poise, with zesty acidity, and no oak that we could detect. Finished with just the correct amount of sweetness - very impressive.
Have to thank my bud @David A Lentine for gifting us this gem. I'm in the market for more. — 9 years ago

Lovely and elegant with good minerality. Showing very well now! One of my new favorites. Long evolving finish. — 9 years ago
A breathtaking view of NY from our balcony was joined by Orin Swift's extravagant Palermo.
It's a brute which lacks finesse, but it makes up for its shortcomings with power of fruit, length and opulence. A great one-night-stand.

01' Bonneau du Martray Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru Chardonnay. Color- Light golden. By looking at it, I would've never guessed it's 16 years old. BIG Nose...Green apple, floral. Palate...stone fruits, melon, peach & pineapple. A slight bit of creamy notes on the front & mid palate. A light backbone of acidity. Stone fruits minerality & soft pineapple carry through to a nice finish. Drinking at it peak now. @Ron R Thank you for this simply amazing bottle. Can't wait to tip a glass with you soon. Cheers to you and Anne-Marie! — 9 years ago

Very tough to describe on the nose. Saddle leather, pine cones, sage, graphite and earth.
Palette is compact and stretched out - meaning there is length and a continuity which is untypical for a wine of this age. I wish I tasted it blind, but I'm digging my very first Petrus. Bite me.
