Inky fruit purple garnet. To organic, wet forest floor. Great minerals and river stones. — 10 months ago
Tasted blind. Deep tawny color. Heavy nose with lots of drama going on. Notes of old wet cedar desk, red fruits, pepper, mocha, dark moist earth and some spice. Great structure. Has a perfect balance of fruit that strongly remains in the picture with structure and acidity. Silky, coats the mouth. Might have been the WOTN until the next bottle was poured. — 3 years ago
Tried twice! From a warm vintage, medium lemon color with aromas of white fruits and wet stone aromas. On the palate flavors of ripe apple & peach, very complex, lively acidity. Long finish ending with mineral and sweet honey character, should age well, but great now! — 3 years ago
Happy belated birthday wine to me.
Nose is all earth and truffles and cigar tobacco; wet forest leaf and barbecue sauce. Some cheese rind and dirty sock. Definitely past it’s aromatic peak, but at 37, who isn’t?
Palate is bright though with red acids and tastes young!
Better on day two... cheese is toned down and some fruit is peeking out. — 4 years ago
Tasted blind. Light to medium canary gold color. Notes of tangerine, lemon curd, wet stone, tan spice, ginger, hazelnut. Great weight. Tasted blind, we all couldn't pick out the Chablis characteristics, although we're told this had been open for 6 hours. After the reveal, you could discern the terrior. With more air, it softened and developed more honey characteristics. Best sip was the last, like so many Raveneau bottles we've had. — 5 years ago
Magnificent Bordeaux sample! Warm red fruits in the nose, with wet earthy notes. Smooth velvet tannins. I enjoyed it with miso-mushroom broth with dim sum with rabbit and wild mushrooms — 7 years ago
I’ve enjoyed several wines now from the 2021 Mosel vintage, a vintage that I personally adore for its classicism, and its departure from the current trend of warm, dry and short growing seasons in the region. J. J. Prüm’s WSU Spätlese from this overlooked vintage is an absolutely sensational young riesling that, for me, represents a benchmark of what this region (and winery) can produce.
The nose is fresh, clear, like an alpine stream, truly elevating and disarmingly pure scented. A meadow of flowers, freshly squeezed lime, wet stones, petrichor. It is utterly pristine on the palate: sea salt, a medley of tropical fruit slightly underripe, fresh lime, hazelnuts, flecks of lavender. Enormous presence, but huge acidity from this cold, long growing season which, really, is how these wines were always made. A monumental finish that persists for almost a minute.
This is up there with the greatest Mosel wines I’ve ever enjoyed. I’m pretty chuffed to have bought this wine and most of their range in multiple formats in 2021, and I’ll hold on to those for the next forty years! — 8 months ago
This was a surprise! The body and color were surprisingly light, with a light maroon/burgundy, and a Nose of sharpie and old velvet couch opening to notes of wet leaves, and then evolving into chamoy and a fresh bouquet of flowers. this is a wild and excitingly different wine. Like, wow, at first the palate was straight sweet jam, then it became vegetal, with pronounced freshness of prickly pear, with well integrated tannins and a slightly orange citrus finish. — 3 years ago
Blend of 96% Sauv Blanc with 4% Sauv Gris adding an interesting dynamic to the wine & distinctive aromas (prior to ‘18 vintage some Semillon added). Pale lemon color, citrus, tropical & floral aromas. On the palate peach, melon, herb & earthy tones, well balanced with acidity, smooth yet robust on a long finish ending rich with wet stone character. Good value! A Fav!! Very consistent! — 3 years ago
About 95% of grapes sourced from Carneros, aged about 8 months on 1/3 new oak with 20% of wine going through malolactic fermentation. Aromas of ripe stone fruits with slight honey oak scents. On palate complex flavors of ripe apple, peach & lemon zest, balanced with good acidity & great mouthfeel. Long finish ending with fruit, wet stone and toasty character. Very nice, will age well. — 3 years ago

What a special treat. First time trying a post WWII 1949 Bordeaux. Color is a cloudy tawny port. Nose - red fruit, currants, wet musky soil, herbaceous and a hint of mint. Taste - ripen plum-strawberry, dried herbs, old worn leather and baking spice with a short medium finish. Making history in my wine tasting experience. — 8 months ago
Muscadet doesn’t get much better than this. Lemon zest, tart green apple, tons of wet rock, screaming acidity. So good. — a year ago
Recent notes suggested this wine was declining and the fruit fading. This was cause for concern as have a few of these I’ve been patiently cellaring. Well, I’m very happy to report this bottle, a Martine’s import, was stellar. To my palate, the wine is in a perfect place. Tertiary aromas and flavors dominate. Very complex aromas of sous bois, herbs de provence, wet saddle and red fruits. The palate is vivid and lively. Extraordinary depth and length that never faded. I can’t say enough great things about this wine. There’s no chance this bottle was fading or won’t last several more years. I don’t think it can improve as it’s almost perfection right now. Simply a stunner. — 3 years ago
Day 2 of WineBoyz Wineapalooza. Tasted blind. Medium gold color, slightly darker than the 89 Raveneau next to it. Cochey nose with notes of wet stone, petrol, marzipan, tan spice and pit fruit. Powerful with massive acidity. Got better and better over the day. Love 99 Leflaive! Guessed 05 Coche Meursault Genevrieres. 96+ — 3 years ago
Light gold, not showing much age in the glass. Heavy weight like motor oil. Exotic and exciting nose. Notes of citrus, sweet apricot, wet river stone, some flint and petrol, some tan spice and some ripe peach. Sappy fruit in the mouth balanced against the still-strong acidity and structure. Drinking well now, especially with 5 hours of air, this has a long life in front of it and is just hitting its stride. Love the 99 Leflaives! — 4 years ago
Ordered off a restaurant list. Straw gold. Great vibrant nose. Very mineral. Notes of lemon, white flowers, wet river stones and some cardamom. After several hours of air this blossoms. Still young but had some nuances of complexity. Great to compare the 2010 vs the 1986 today. — 7 years ago
Sipping Fine Wine
Medium Ruby color with aromas dark red fruits, black tea and ample floral spice, aged in 20% new French oak for 10 months. On the palate flavors of black cherry, blackberry and plum with tobacco, cedar, black pepper, tea and vanilla spice. Soft fine tannins, long finish, well balanced with acidity, ending with fruit, herb, spice and earthy wet stone character. Nice! — 6 months ago
