The Reserve is made from 5 rows of vines in the centre of the closely spaced (9000 vines per hectare) north east facing vineyard planted on silky loam. The unfiltered Reserve is matured for 20 months in new Alliers oak. Regarding colour this is mid crimson with tawny notes. A stunning nose - a red fruited perfume (cherry) with loamy Sous Bois notes (compost heap). Those aromatics translate to the medium bodied palate finishing with fine silky tannins. Very Bass Phillip. Obviously in the conversation regarding the best Pinot Noir in Australia. I would give the mantle to the BP Reserve. It should be for the price. One should not approach a BP Reserve under 10 years of age. This is of top 1er Cru and Grand Cru standard. — 2 months ago
See several previous notes. My last bottle of Premium from 2013. Tawny crimson in colour. More fruit driven than savoury on this showing. Red cherry and red florals with some Sous Bois. As in previous notes - ripe fruit. Quite sweet, rich and intense. A superb Pinot Noir by any standard. One of the best Pinots I’ve had this year and that includes New Zealand and Burgundy. — 9 months ago
A pale crimson with a tawny edge - almost transparent. A high quality Pinot Noir from Canterbury wizards Marcel Giesen and Sherwyn Veldhuizen. As I said last tasting note - pale but powerful. As good a new World Pinot Noir as you will find, and this is Bell Hill’s second wine. I can’t improve on the previous Delectable note from October 6 2023. These wines from Bell Hill aren’t cheap but are a lot cheaper than good Burgundy. — a month ago
Enjoyable red blend. Good value every day red — 4 months ago
Citrus flavors with good depth, racy and a touch of sweetness. — 6 months ago
Mid crimson in colour - almost transparent. Red fruited with typical Huon Valley perfume - earthy, Sous Bois, mushroom - sweet and savoury characters on the palate. Finely textured (Chairman’s Trophy - 2020 Tasmanian Wine Show). There is a Reserve Cuvée which is richer still. — a year ago
Surprisingly good! Easy to drink — 2 months ago
2017 Wine Spectator #1 wine of the year.
Hour decant(some fine/cloudy sediment). A majestic dark crimson color. On the nose: beautiful notes of cherry, vanilla Graham crackers, floral, mint. Taste: smooth, creamy, balanced wine with a little dark plum, dark chocolate, graphite, pepper, and a medium dry oaky tar finish. YUM! unfortunately my last bottle, though I would drink em if you got em, seems to be at the end of its peak. — 2 months ago
Mineral driven, complimented by strawberry and mushroom notes, libely and refreshing. — 7 months ago
