Tasting Group. My 5th, group 4th. BD distanced tasting @ Corison Winery. Green olives, faint capsicum. Cherry. Nice feel, balance. Grippy, astringent tannins. Woodier than others. — 5 years ago
Tasting Group 5/24/20. 2-meter café @ Corison Winery. My 3rd, Group 1st. Brett but still fruity. Red currants. Nice acidity — 5 years ago
Syrah in the right hands can be sublime. Cathy Corison has the right hands. This aged so beautifully. — 6 years ago
Top 2-3 Napa Cabs I've ever had. Magical nose, cassis, cocoa, red flowers. Rich but nicely aged mid-palate, spreading into a wide swathe of candied red and black fruit, soft but powerful. Secondary stuff in spades. Then - an explosion at the back-end of cedary fruit and fig, tobacco, dark chocolate that lasted for >60 seconds. Just a monumental wine, sadly a solo.
This is note #500 for me, grateful to so many Delectable contributors who take the time to educate and expand my wine perspectives (or, in the case of @Bill Bender...other stuff, too!). Thanks to @Anthony Lombardi @Kimberly Anderson @Jörgen Lindström Carlvik @Jeff Savigny@Ron R@Shawn R @Richard Steinberg @Martin G Rivard (who is living the dream), @Greg Gregory among so many others, not to mention @Roman Sukley with magical reach to inaccessible, iconic SQNs (and the will to pop them) and frank open perspectives from legendary winemakers like @Mike Smith and @Cathy Corison, you all make this a neat community of which I try to be a small contributor.
Finally - a renewed plea to @Antonio Galloni to return "trending" to this community, as it was stolen by the bean counters! I'm no social media expert (I do have 2 teenagers!) but I'm pretty sure that "trending" speaks to the integrity and will to contribute of an entire community...take a look! — 8 years ago
Tasting Group. My 4th, group 2nd. BD distanced tasting @ Corison Winery. Spice, cassis, anise. Darkest. Layered, full, resolved. Long — 5 years ago
Definitely wins the award for heaviest bottle ever!! Must weigh twice that of a regular bottle.
Better than the ‘04 Corison Cab last night and at a lower price point.
Dark purple color. Nose contains cedar, cough medicine, and mild mushrooms. Wine actually has character and elements of terroir. Not all that common in Napa Cabs at this price point I’m discovering. Excellent gritty, sandy texture. Deep wine with black cherry fruit and mild smoke. Medium plus finish.

Pristine cork, decanted for 5 hours: still balanced, complex, and harmonious as a 20 year old in a challenging vintage. Fruit still lively, with mellow tannins—this still has a few years left. Came out best for me in an evening of great old wines: ‘98 Corison, ‘98 Montelena Estate, plus de la Tour ‘99. Never underestimate the consistency of a great estate, year after year. Glad I have another bottle or two. — 6 years ago
Côte-Rotie like I remember loving. Mineral, roasted fruit, more than a kiss of Brett. Night shift during harvest @Corison Winery. Kronos pumpover. — 8 years ago
Mellow at 10 years old - classic California style - Dec 25, 2016 — 8 years ago
Playful acids, subtle sweetness, all around refreshing crunchiness. — 5 years ago
Tasting Group. 2 meter café @ Corison Winery. 5/24/20. My 1st, group 3rd. Quiet, cherries. Peppermint. Brighter than the other wines in the tasting. — 5 years ago
This showed beautiful balance and a noteworthy structure. Earthy nose of sage and other dried herbs, sort of a damp forest floor thing, and dried but firm red and black fruit. It tasted bold and subtle at the same time - one of the best examples of Old and New World styles in the same bottle I’ve ever experienced. The closest thing I can think to compare it to is a Corison Cab. Very complex now, but will certainly improve. I look forward to revisiting this again. — 6 years ago
The flagship of Clos Du Val is their Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon. The 1973 vintage was included in the Judgment of Paris. The 2011 vintage presents a similarly styled profile as the same vintage from Cathy Corison as well as Keenan. While it doesn’t hit the high notes achieved by those bottles, it’s a commendable effort considering the difficulty of the vintage. Olive tapenade and fire roasted peppers play well off the warmth of cedar and hot brick. The balance allows the currant and black cherry to sail through, leaving behind secondary notes of earth, graphite, coffee, and charcoal. — 7 years ago
If it's good enough for Cathy Corison, it's good enough for me. Nothing earth shattering; everything enjoyable. Flint, acid, oyster shell - pale goodness. — 9 years ago
