Super charming NV cinsault with all that purply fruit and plumminess. Glou glou for sure. Not complex but surely doesn’t need to be. You’ll come back soon for another sip. — 6 months ago

Château Musar

Musar Jeune Rouge Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2020

Blend is actually 50% Cinsault, 35% Syrah and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. Very dark inky ruby color with purple highlights. Aromas of black and blue berry fruit, violets and tobacco. The rich palate features flavors of cooked black cherry, blueberry and black berry/currant fruit with notes of sweet spices and black pepper. Long and lingering finish and a lovely soft/silky texture. No sign of oak aging. Acidity is plentiful but well balanced. Quite fresh and bright! Solid QPR. — 10 months ago

Cote des Roses Languedoc Grenache Blend 2024

Had the 2024 in August of 2025. What a really neat little wine. Light pink color. Some strawberry, peach and orange blossom on the nose. Delicate little wine. Some strawberry, honey and a light floral character on the tongue. Short finish but very tasty. Would drink this one again. — 2 months ago

Great producer, greater having to produce wines in a region of constant chaos.

Turley

Bechtoldt Vineyard Cinsault 2022

Haven’t had a Turley in years, and this is good. Fruit leather on the nose, with very soft, light berries on the palate. Low acidity. Subtle minerals, herbs and spice. Overall dry, with some sweetness. Hint of thyme. Light-bodied (12.5% abv) with clear ruby color and pleasing tannins. Medium-long finish. Great with cured meats. — 7 months ago

Domaine Tempier

La Migoua Bandol Mourvedre Blend 2018

The vintage shows through. The ripeness pushes toward baked in the fruit character somewhat, but its pliant nature make it approachable now. Roasted cherry and baked plum, dusty leather, reduction (oxtail), cured game, white pepper, tar, fur. Love some young Migoua 😸 — 4 years ago

Old Vines Bechthold Vineyard Cinsault 2019

Cinsault - 130+ year old vines
Organic, unfiltered, nouveau style, 12.5% abv. Body is light, red fruit, med acid, some tannin, good food wine, spring picnic and warm weather red. On second day of being opened, more fruity raspberry notes appeared.

From website:
Twenty-five acre own-rooted Bechthold vineyard, planted in 1886 by German immigrant Joseph Spenker, is the oldest continuously farmed vineyard in Lodi.

Nestled in the Mokelumne River area of Lodi, the organically dry farmed vineyard with head-trained vines is believed to be the world’s oldest surviving Cinsault vineyard.

Château Miraval

Côtes de Provence Rosé Blend 2024

This rosé is everywhere in Switzerland. I think it’s the 4th time I’ve had it. Got this bottle at the train station lol. Very concentrated. Strong acidity, strawberry and orange. Mouth watering finish with a touch of lavender and Provençal herbs. I can see why they like it so much here. Screams European summer (or après-ski on a sunny afternoon). Not fussy, but still elevated. — 3 months ago

@Daniel M Does Brad Pitt still having anything to do with it? The Swiss do like the “in” thing ;) Despite all that, it’s a solid rosé

Apparently yes but there is a legal battle over Angelina Jolie's stakes (which she sold to a company after their divorce). The Perrin family is still at the helm from a practical point of view though.

Château de Saint-Cosme

Gigondas Red Rhone Blend 2015

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of dinner which lasted a couple do hours. The 2015 pours a deep ruby/purple color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of powerful ripe red and dark fruit: black brambles, dark cherries, black pepper, boozy Christmas fruitcake, licorice, garrigue, leather and rocky earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with sneaky medium+ tanning that build with air. The acid is there too although I wouldn’t call it the main character. It does, however, play a strong supporting roll. Definitely a wine of texture. It has been a handful of years since my last bottle of the 2015 and it’s evolving very nicely! Secondary flavors are starting to show and everything remains balanced. Extended air did get it to freshen up a bit so I’d say this still has a long life ahead. Drink now with a healthy decant and through 2035. — 9 months ago
