Clos du Roy Corton Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2018

Flash tasting; no formal notes. The 2018 “Clos du Roy” is a light ruby and showing deeper, darker fruit and more structure than the 2019 “Clos de Chênes” (as it should). Balanced. The finish is also longer and slightly more powerful than the Volnay. Better after 2028 — 2 years ago

Nice Burgundy. Restrained fruit but tasty and elegant. Dark fruit with acidic finish. A good value at $50. — 5 months ago

Needs air but so elegant and gorgeous. Pretty. Roses, mid season. cherry, mineral and very open palate that is fleshing out minute by minute. Gorgeous, elegant tannins and very pure. Let’s see what air does. Such a wispy wine. — 8 months ago

As close to perfect as possible. This 2016 vintage was dipped inn2024 with great pleasure. Beautiful fruits of cherry rounded by a nice tannin finish. The wine opened up and by the last sip the tannin complimented the cherry to a more oaky finish. Outstanding. On the occasion of welcoming Anna home! — 10 months ago

Clos Rognet Corton Grand Cru Pinot Noir 1999

Browning on the edges, but youthful with a long drinking window in every other way. A beautiful nose gives way to black cherry, spices and a smooth finish. The tannins are well integrated, but it got better as the night went on. A world class Burgundy — 10 months ago

@Craig Williams What do you feel has changed from when you tasted it 2 years ago. I am selfishly asking because I own one bottle, large format, and notes are far and few between. Thanks!

I thought the wine had resolved its tannins nicely. For me, I lean towards drinking windows with more fruit less tertiary development. Your large format should be behind the 750ml. I’ll drink my remaining bottles over the next 5 yrs.
