Dark deep garnet with forest floor, tobacco, oak, and slate. Deep and rich, this one is my favorite for this month’s club shipment! — a year ago

For more than 4 decades, the Chappellet family has been crafting wines. Exposed to the fog and wind that funnel through the Petaluma Gap, Calesa is a cool-climate vineyard where Chardonnay ripens slowly, pale lemon with aromas of ripe stone fruits, citrus, honey and floral scents, aged in 35% new oak. On the palate complex layers of fruit, apple, lemon and peach with lively acidity and gentle toasty oak. Long finish ending with fruit and creamy oak, well balanced. Well done. Nice! — 6 months ago
Crisp acidity and oak with limestone and lemon. Nothing harsh but big flavors and good structure. Delicious to drink on its own but will do right by your food. — a year ago

Blackberry, earthy vanilla and black cherry. Rich and full for a Pinot. — 10 months ago
Cherry, earthy oak, cedar, and blackberry. Dark and rich but maybe a touch sharp for me. — a year ago
Lots of slate on the aroma right when the bottle opens, but the wine quickly breathes allowing some scents of black currant and peach to shine through. All chocolate upfront, reminds me of brownie batter. The slate comes back on the mid palate, with an interesting watermelon rind thing going on too. A real mild but long lingering heat on the finish that makes me think of ginger. Over all, a really nice and transformative wine that is a great journey from start to finish. — 3 years ago
Incredible for a young wine. Can’t wait to try in 5-10 years — 4 years ago
Steak night on vacation in the outer banks.
Having an Idaho vs Napa cab comparison. We went to Idaho for a wedding in June and purchased some local wines.
2014 Split Rail Winery vs 2013 Chappellet Napa Valley cab.
This is massive at 15.6% abv with equally big blueberry, cassis, smoke, and touches of lavender. Very surprised by how well this wine was! This was $33 vs the $65 Chappellet price point. — 5 years ago

Not a normal Pinot, but not in a bad way at all. The aroma has got a lot of darker impressions like black currant and black licorice. There’s even a hint of earthiness in there. Initially the body jumps out as it’s pretty thick and sticky. The black currant comes through in the taste. Aftertaste is delightful, it’s makes me think of a juicy plum where than tannin bitterness melds into the high alcohol heat. Enjoying this one after dinner on a pleasantly chilly night and it fits the mood. — 5 months ago
