After the Sicilian off dry white which I drank only a glass of in disappointment, I decided to open something I knew would make me happy. We are watching Dunkirk while drinking this wine and the contrast between the on-screen drama and the funky liveliness in the glass is stunning!
As usual the nose is a bit funky at fist and takes a good 20 to 30 minutes to set into place. Then it's violet, blueberry, clay, that iron thing too, which I always smell in this cuvée, no matter the vintage. The palate is big, bright and fruity. There are blueberry notes all along, some cherry too. Some width, a nice and soft mouthfeel, some tannins in the rear, and a really nice anf long finish with fruits, some pepper, and a nice tannic layer. There is a subtle savory note too, almost meaty, that makes it more complex than you would have bet at first. Of course this is, as always, a very biased review, but I mean, what's not to like there? — 4 months ago

This we opened a few days ago the 2010 Château Calon. This is from Montagne, Saint-Emilion. The blend is 70% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Bouchet and 3% Malbec.
On the nose the is black cherry, black plum, blacberry, licorice, black currant, brambles, chocolate and smoke.
On the palate there is black cherry, blackberry, black currant, spice, black pepper, leather, cassis and earth.
This wine is full bodied with medium +acidity and medium + firm powdery tannins with a long dark fruit earyhy finish. I hope everyone's weekend was eventful full of fun with family and friends. Have a great week ahead and stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 6 months ago

A chance to compare again with proper notes. Aromas of maple syrup and honey. The Sherry sweetness comes through, with a toasty, nutty character on top of the grape. Very nice. — 3 months ago
Very smooth. Tobacco and/or leather. I enjoyed it. — 3 months ago
This one really resonated. Tasted amazing the first and second day. Aromatics were petrol and calcareous. — 7 months ago

Amazing w/ the Allen Brothers A-5 wagyu.
This is another Bordeaux producer that makes wines for the ages. I’ve waited & waited on 2000, this shows some readiness. Yet, will go another 20 plus years.
Tonight this is well balanced earth & candied fruit. In 10 years, this is candied fruit & florals.
Still medium plus tannins. Blackberries, black raspberries, black plum with ample skin, juicy dark cherries, poached strawberries, raspberries, dry limestone grains with powder, dark, forest floor with dry leaves, some dry herbaceousiness-bay leaf, mint, dark spice, clove, nutmeg, some cinnamon, hints of vanillin, mid berry cola, sandalwood to cedar shavings, used leather, pipe tobacco, anise, some mocha, sun tea, dark, red, purple flowers with a touch of blue, excellent acidity and a well knitted structure, balanced, nicely tensioned with a ripe, elegant finish that lasts two-minutes.
