2015 vintage. This estate was bought in 2002 by Belgian Justin Onclin and he turned Branas Grand Poujeaux into the finest wine of the Moulis appellation in my humble opinion. Eclats is the second wine and it is a very attractive medium-bodied Moulis that delivers amazing value for money. Perfect to drink now, but no signs of fatigue. Abv. 13,5%. — 2 years ago

2019 vintage. Tasted alongside Poujeaux 2019, this Belgrave seems more powerful and more extracted. More gentle extractions seem to suit the vintage better, therefore I rate the Poujeaux a little higher. But this is still a very good wine and terrific value as it is dumped in supermarkets at 20,90 euros. They don't seem to have much faith in their Grand Cru Classé status... — 3 years ago

From farfar’s cellar. Opened with Will and Monika and Kalen and Hugo. Tough to get the cork out but I did a yeomans job. Developing very well over time, started a bit astringent on the finish but now showing much more structure. Beautiful. — 7 months ago

This estate was bought in 2013 by the Cuvelier family (Clos Fourtet and Poujeaux), but the previous owner Sophie Fourcade already made great efforts to improve the wines. This 2018 features a deep red colour, a flamboyant perfume with truffle, red fruit and flowers. Concentrated, with layers of red fruit and spices and a serious tannic structure. Good length too. As this estate (promoted to Grand Cru Classé in the 2012 classification) is still very much under the radar it is great value and worth seeking out for less than 25 euros. — 3 years ago

Wednesday night's middle of the week wine is the 2010 Château Gressier Grand Poujeaux. This wine is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot and made in conjuction with Château Chasse-Spleen.

The nose reveals juicy dark fruit, black cherry, black raspberry, black plum, black currant, licorice, violet floral notes, chocolate and an earthiness.

The palate leads us to the same juicy dark fruits of black cherry, blackberry, black plum, black currant, herbal notes, licorice, violet florals, toasty oak and good earthy notes.

We have a full bodied medium + acidity, medium + gripping tannins that moves right into a long finish with lingering cherry notes straight through. Enjoy the down hill side of your week and continued safe travels. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 6 years ago
