Corked shredded and didn’t have my Durand. Mess. Wine decanted almost 2 hours and oxygenated. Dense and super full bodied. Really needed food and the Wagyu tomahawks were perfect. Very excited to be collecting these now — 5 years ago
Briljant Bourgogne! Underbara smaker av mörka körsbär, mandel, kanel och rostade fat. — 8 years ago
This is the vintage Xavier really got going. Lovely nose of spice and mineral. Big candies cherries and some sour cherries as well. Palate is soft and elegant with huge fruit. Sappy and spicey with lovely freshness. Good mouthfeel and terrific value. Needs maybe 15 minutes and then raring to go. Terrific sweetness of fruit smothered with spice. — 8 years ago
Rust...dusty and dried tertiary beauty of red fruits, spice, leather and forest floor...fun and actually better than the last bottle!
Should have used the #durand! Old Bordeaux transforms into a much wider spectrum of cuisine pairing. We had this with a seared duck breast and confit leg...excellent match! — 10 years ago

Still plenty of life left, but use the Durand
K&L notes as follows, it is better than their 2000! We have been following the property for the last five years and we think it is on a great track with their new releases, but try this 20+ yr old beauty. It is elegant and has a long, lingering finish. Smokey, toasty aromas, tons of cassis fruit on the palate. In a blind tasting at K&L (January 2019), one of our top Bordeaux staff thought it was a first growth Pauillac from the 80s. A steal at this price.

Intense, but lithe and perfectly balanced blue and black fruit. A+ cru Beauj — 6 years ago
Dried apricot and white prunes, honey, almonds/hazelnuts. Really fun. With Marco and Tim. — 7 years ago

Aloxe Corton continues to be massively underrated. Gorgeously deep and refined aromas of Black cherry, spice and some hints of oak being absorbed. Palate is complex and structured like this cuvee normally is but with so much fruit, complexity and spice. Incredible palate presence and much density and sweetness. This needs and hour but then is a terrific terrific value. Will age for 10-12 years easy. — 8 years ago
Excellent French wine! Grenache Mourvèdre blend. — 10 years ago
Toasty oak nose. This is 2014. Very cherry. Sappy and very pure fruit. Excellent intensity. Very pure. Long. 2014 is looking good. — 11 years ago
Goodness the value of a value Merlot based bottle of tastiness. Purpley it is. But it isn’t just purple drapes, there is a pot of hot spiced tea bubbling and someone is puffing a cigar just outside the window. Where are you looking to through this wine window? At your friends. Wearing purple masks but they are there for you. — 5 years ago

Graphite, black peppercorn, and deep dark fruit note on the nose. After opening, a definite barnyard note with fruit undertones. A very different type of syrah, unadulterated and no tricks in the making of it. Quite nice! — 7 years ago
This is a delicious, crisp and light wine. — 7 years ago

Exuberant nose of spice, cherry cough drop, wood shavings, sour cherry. Very aromatic. Round, sappy and juicy with nice balance and freshnes. Clean and mineral finish redolent of spices and red cherries. Nice suave tannins. Showing very well. Terrific balance. — 9 years ago
Very nice Red Burgundy. More fruit than I expected if a bit less earth. Went exceptionally well with our food selections; Salmon and lamb but good match for both. — 11 years ago

Classic cool climate Syrah. Pepper, brambly fruit, barnyard, leather, spicy funk and dirt. Lovely. — 12 years ago

Final holiday season bottle. Our last bottle of the 97. What a wine. This bottle was probably slightly below the one we had last year but obviously still such a treat. Only 12.9% - love it! Cork broke but the Durand saved it. Dark fruit aromatics are off the charts. Doesn’t have the stinky leather of a top Bordeaux, but still obviously in the same family. Wonderful pairing with some tenderloin with a mushroom sauce. Finish is very long and though it doesn’t have the refreshing quality of the last bottle we had still delicious.
Pulled a bottle of 09 as well and need to decide when to drink it. — 4 years ago
