Château Chante L&

W. L. Weller

Aged 12 Years The Original Wheated Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

For some reason, this smells like peaches 😅 Actually, dark cherry, candied nuts, and cigar box on the nose. Flavors of apricot, honey, cinnamon candies, and pleasant oak. At 90 proof it's an easy summer sipper.
Listening to Chris Isaac (my neighbor is playing her music loud) Not complaining.

Elixir Végétal de la Grande-Chartreuse

I think this is the second time I’ve nabbed some precious drops of this digestif from my friend’s liquor cabinet. I love it. So complex and mouth coating. — 2 months ago

Chante Le Merle Vieilles Vignes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Grenache - Mourvedre Blend 2010

Close to pop and pour. Not juicy, but lots of red fruit — strawberry, raspberry, cherry (the pits). Also plum. Some leather. Minerals and clay. A little violet. Dried rose petals. Still has some grip — plum-skin-like. Acidity balances it all very nicely. Really good. 92. — 4 months ago

@Peter van den Besselaar, did you notice any newish oak? About 10-15 years I bought a Chamte Cigale VV (after having much older vintages), the wine I bought had GREAT reviews, but I just despise oodles of new oak in my CdPs!?!?

@Doug Powers I did some research. 70% of the wine was kept on stainless steel and 30% in new barrels for 12 months. The wine was balanced with well integrated wood. We even dit not notice it. Making choices for more or less wood seems very difficult to me. Perhaps you had the wine when the vintner was still searching for the perfect recipe? But certainly you might try it again.
