Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The 2006 Juliet pours a deep garnet/purple with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of ripe and desiccated dark fruits: cassis, blackberries, plums, tobacco, leather, mixed dead flowers, old wood, organic earth and fine warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin (integrated) and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ with an attractive, plush texture. This is in a really good spot and fully mature. Drink now through 2031. — 6 days ago

Dark ruby/ brick in color with a wide reddish/ brick rim.

Fruity on the nose, and medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity.

Showing over ripen fruits, cedar, vanilla, espresso, cola, light herbs, earth, chocolates, tobacco and spices.

This is a very tasty Merlot from Saint Emilion. Rich and extracted. Fruit forward and elegant. Complex and interesting.

This 23 year old is much fruitier than I expected it to be. I absolutely loved the nose on this, and kept going back for more.

Good by itself or with food. A great experience to taste these kind of old wines.

A blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. Aged in (50% new) French Oak barrels for 16 months.

14% alcohol by volume.

Well, what an overachiever this wine is! Mayne Lalande, a little known chateau in Listrac-Médoc, and a bottle which I picked up for a humble price at auction around a year ago. It’s fresh, sappy, delicious and positively refreshing at 12% abv. I wish I had more of this. A joyous rendition of old left-bank Bordeaux. — 7 months ago

A blend of multiple vintages; 2019/2021/2022, stands out from the crowd, aromatic, perfumy and charming on the nose, inviting notes of black fruit, amazing toasted notes, nice structure, rounded tannins, lovely acidity, slightly fruity but balanced. Nose presents baking spices and a touch of soft brown sugar. Palate is dense and layered, as usual for this producer (before the winery changed hands the first time around). Notes of coffee, tobacco and maple syrup come through on the mid palate. Nice tannin/acidity combination complete what is a classic BV presentation. Drink these within the 24 months. This winery has been on the slide ever since Ed Snyder and team departed. I tasted some of the 18’s and 19’s and they were a mere shadow of the previous product.
