Carta Nevada Brut Cava Macabeo-Xarel-lo-Parellada

NOSE: smells like champagne. Bready, butter, a little sea minerals.

TASTE: nice small bubbles and texture, toasty buttery taste like the nose - quite distinct. I prefer more citrus and fruit (I only taste a little melon and pear here), but this is good! 90.

The second bottle I had and like the last one, the label was in rough shape but the wine was singing. — a year ago

Serenata Vermentino di Gallura Superiore 2018

I really like this wine. Consistently good every year. Good weight, acidity. Had a slight bitterness on the end. Some people describe Vermentino as having a green almond aspect. I don’t know what green almond tastes like, but with this I get a taste like when you find a raspberry seed in your teeth and you bite it. — 2 years ago

Poggio Cerrino Rosso Di Montalcino Sangiovese 2014

A little angry, lean and uneven to start. Needed a night after being open to calm down and integrate. A relaxed rosso drinks better: strawberry, black cherry, red plum, licorice and herbs. I love the classic profile. I never thought I’d say this, but I don’t love the aggressive acidity - probably the result of a cool and difficult vintage - that is waging war with my stomach lining. This lean wine needs food. I’d suggest something richer and fattier than the Ropa Vieja (night 1) and Amy’s frozen vegetarian lasagna (night 2). — 2 years ago
