This lovely glass of wine has transported me. With some Manchego, olives and bread at the Wine Bar at the San Francisco ferry depot. — 10 months ago

2023 vintage. First Sauternes I tasted from this great vintage, and this is very good indeed. Château Lafon has a long history, and a part of its vineyards form an enclave within the vineyards of Château Yquem. In the 1922(!) edition of Cocks & Ferry it is considered to be "in the league of the best crus of Sauternes". It was bought from the Lafon family in the early 20th century by the Dufour family, whose 4th generation runs the estate these days. Honey, candied pineapple and flowers. Mouthwatering acidity keeps the sweetness in check. Good length too. Terrific value. — 2 months ago
Greg tasted at Kaitei 6109 Maple in Benson.
He loves it, says it beats all so far! This is the only peated whiskey I have liked so far. — 5 years ago
An electric violet zing plus hoofprints in a storm, the balm to a long day of zooms at home in the era of coronapocalypse. — 6 years ago
1 of CA's oldest wineries, Far Niente, founded 1885 by John Benson. Winery flourished until Prohibition, when it was abandoned & fell into complete disrepair. Stately stone shell of a winery purchased in 1979 by Gil Nickel. A big wine! Tropical and stone fruit aromas with complex spice and oak notes. On the palate apple, peach and citrus flavors, creamy, with buttery toasty oak, fig/honey tones. Long finish ending with vibrant acidity & mineral character. Consistent. — 6 months ago

Multi-vintage 2020 and 2021. The last bottle we had of this blend was the highest we’ve rated of the several versions of the Stoumen Nero d’Avola rosés that we’ve had… and this was tasting just wonderful tonight! — a month ago
